whats this "Karma" about?

ok i know this is stupid but what is it and what do i do with it. lastweek i thought i was doing a good thing by giving someone karma and it turned out it was something negative. please clarify. thanks

Karma is that little green dot you see under your name. Whenever someone helps you out with a good answer or you really like what somebody has written you give them karma. It's just a way of saying thank you. The more green someone has, the more they have helped out on the board
You can give someone bad karma by mistake, which is probably what you did.
