What's an OFF day?

I haven't had a day in MONTHS where I don't do SOMETHING.....either train or cardio.......training 6x week and cardio pretty much daily.......feel pretty good....little burned out, but my appetite stinks unless I do something.......anyone else?

An off day is just that, an off day. Take a day off from the gym and relax, you grow while you rest not in the gym.

I love the gym, and who knows how many days I have gone in the past without a day off from the gym. Buttom line is that it is counterproductive, and I gain better while I give sufficient time to recover. :)

BTW, cardio will drain you too, it isn't just weight training that will lead you to overtraining.

if you cant handle it then take both days off on the weekend and just eat what you can, force yourself if you have to. On my days off i usually lounge around watch movies and play video games and go out with my buds at night for some fun.

I think an off day here and there is not only important to your body, but also to your mind and motivation. When I get burned out, I take a whole week off. It allows my central nervous system a chance to come back and when the week is over I can't wait to get back in the gym!

Don't get me wrong...I agree that's they are essential, just haven
't thrown one in for awhile and don't really plan on it......like I said, I eat 10X better when I train..............I'd much rather take a day off after the office than a weekend day when I don't have much to do, cept watch football............

Welcome to Overtrainingville. Population: you.

Days off are truly the greatest, for body and mind. I used to train 6 days a week and I could never grow then like I can now. Granted I know more now about lifting and diet but with only lifting 4 days a week I know that is a big part of it as well.

I have learned to love my rest days, I have at least 2 and sometimes 3 complete days of per week. These days I eat well and can feel my sore muscles recovering and growing...

My rest day was yesterday....loved it.......1/2 hour on elliptical in AM on empty stomach and a little ab work...........1.2 mile jog with Lugar (my boxer) through the trails (pretty intense)....then walk the same trail with my girl...so 2.4miles in total......

Back to training tonight!

I have a fairly simple question...

What are you current squat, bench and deadlift poundages? And what were they 3 months ago?

hmmm..good ?......S, B, D..........315x6, 315x2, 405x3......

3 months ago........s,b,d............305x6, 305x1-2, 375x6

so, no, I'm not gaining by leaps and bounds, but I feel good and look pretty good as well.....not as focused as lifting for huge weights like I did in college..........just want to feel good.......how about you?
