Whats a good cardio machine?

Id like to get a good cardio machine for my home, and was wondering what would be a good effective choice? I dont like biking.

I was thinking of getting a Proteus Stepper. Are steppers good for burning bodyfat or is a treadmill better?

Thanks.

Squat Rack

thats funny!

But in all seriousness, i have a bike, a treadmill, and an eliptical... i almost never use the bike... just because i dont feel like im working anything, and on the treadmill... thats just running--which gets old/and in the long run, can be bad for your joints... so my vote is for an eliptical because when you're on it, you dont even really realize it and can maintain pace for the longest amount of time. Plus i sweat like a bitch on that thing

bike is actually a great way to getin a good workout.....in intervals is good......i feel it on the eliptical though so if your going for feel eliptical is a good bet

Your budget will be a major factor in what you should get. If you can afford a commercial-quality stepper or elliptical, those would be good options, but a treadmill (or bike, but you said you didn't want one) would probably be a better bet if you're looking to spend less.

EDIT: A rower would be another good choice if you want something decent in a lower price range.

and isnt a row machine the best cardio w0orkout.. somethin like 85% of muscles are active during that type of cardio?

Thanks a ton guys.

Okay an elliptical sounds great, i think im going to go for the proteus 3088 elliptical, its about $799. These are supposed to be easy on the joints aswell which is great.

Thx a lot guys!

home cardio pieces are usually not very good, if you can spring for a life fitness elipitcal it would be a better (but more costly) choice. Or you could join a gym for 2 years for that $800...
