What you think about plastic surgery? (serious)

tripleblonde

New member
i'm serious here ef'ers

not that i have a "consultation" today or anything but if i did....

you think it's overboard?
you think it's worth it?

my take on it is that if you think that plastic surgery is gonna make it all better, i.e.: "i'll be happy WHEN i get x and y and z done" then your setting yourself up for failure, but if you are just looking to enhance your self....

so...post up....you know you all watch extreme makeover anyway ;)

good for people who have very small/ large boobs, massive nose etc.

but for fat bastards who want lipo? just lay off the cheesecake covered in gravy for a few weeks

I have had many surgeries on my lips over the years and they were all worth it.

actually i dont watch tv, except on monday nights when i watch Paradise Hotel with my sister ( ;) )

but i think that, along with anabolic steroids, that plastic surgery is to supplement, rather than the basis of your self esteem/body image, and it has a favorable cost/benefit ratio, then its fine

if fake boobs or penis enlargement are going to make you feel 100% better about yourself, then go for it. just another lifestyle choice

i do have reservations about really extreme forms of surgery (eg bone grafting to make people of normal height tall, or stupidly, stupidly huge breast implants) and also when the recipient is young (eg 15-16 year old girls getting boob jobs) but apart from that, yeah go for it

why...what are you thinking of having done?

i watched this show called the swan. it was comprised of unhappy women who were a lot uglier on the inside than they were on the outside.

oh well, they realize that you can change a lifetime's work of physical appearance in one day, but just wait when it all catches up to them again.

I think it's great for the stuff you can't fix yourself, like a bad nose, a face that's aged before it's time, or to replace breasts that disappeared from working out, etc., but it's stupid for things like liposuction which is too often used by lazy people who refuse to work out. Lipo is a pretty dangerous surgery, and when done by those in poor health already, it's even more dangerous. Even so, I think it has it's place for those who've worked really hard but need just a touch up.

And I agree that plastic surgery should only be looked at as an "enhancement". It can help someone feel better about themselves, but it won't give them all the answers or all the solutions to the problems in their life.

Word! I don't like the idea of anyone under 25 going under the knife. I think you grow into certain things about your features. I used to hate my nose when I was younger all tiny and button like but I have grown to like it. Personally TB I think you should wait what ever you think don't like now you may five years from now. However if this is something you have been thinking about for a long time and you are 100% certain you want to do it go for it.
Just my two cents! :qt:

Let's not be hasty. Maybe she's getting surgery to graft all her fingers together, so her hands would be like fleshy mittens. Then, it will be really hard to type. Then, maybe she wouldn't make a lot of these garbage-ass threads.

Aren't you pretty young?

Definitely a positive advancement....

Will it fix all your troubles? Ummmm no.

Not rocket sciense to figure it out. And certainly nothing that anyone considering having a procedure done should fret over the opinions of others about. If the "approval or opinions" of others are even a consideration, perhaps the surgery shouldn't be a consideration anymore AT ALL because the procedure and its rammifications/sides are PERMANENT whereas the opinions/approval of others not in your shoes are totally fleeting and wholely irrelevant.

...just my .02

after watching the swan, i want to be turned into a hot chick.

Please dont get me started about that program. Those chicks get 100's of thousands of dollars of therapy, nutritional/training support AND all sorts of cosmetics procedures FOR FREE.... and they have the balls to piss and moan about "ooowwww, it hurts!".... "I can't stick to the diet" ....."I want to go home"!

BOO-FUCKING-HOO!

Makes me want to vomit.

What did they think.... they would take a pill and viola - they are transformed?!

Shit, how many hours does any number of us spend in the gym? How many years do we spend spinning our wheels before we get our personal diets down?

These pussy bitches are crying over a fucking nosejob and some lipo?

Here's a suggestion:

STAY HOME AND KWITCHERBELLYACHIN'!

yeah, i'm only 21 but i've always wanted my lips done and i've thought about breast implants

i get skinnier my boobs get smaller....i hate it

Plastic surgery, imo, should be reserved with people who have birth defects, or who have sustained serious injuries. Not to sound all tony little, but if you can't like yourself for who you are..... I guess that's easy for me to say though, with my devilish good looks ;)

Collagen is temporary, at nearly 500$ p/clip for 4/5 months unless you are rolling in money, learn to draw outside the line of your lips... or accept that you are beautiful just the way you are.

At 21 considering a boobjob is silly. I am so not trying to give you a hard time.

I was 30 when I had my first procedure so I am pro-surgery as long as you understand what you are getting into. At 21 I don't think you can fully digest the permanence of the situation. I had my boobs done and tummy tuck (after several children and years of training there was nothing that could be done that could have fixed my body other than surgery) and No, I did NOT have lipo. I was a whole 104# soaking wet when I had a foot of loose skin removed from my abdomen. The results were MIRACULOUS. My boobs look natural - I did not want to look like a freaky stripper.

I had botox and collagen when my work required it back in the day. Would I do it again? If I had the expendable cash - HELL YES. But seeing as how I don't know how I am going to pay my rent, fuller lips and a few less wrinkles are the least of my concerns. LOL

the thing is, i honestly think it's awesome some of the things we can do to enhance ourselves....i don't wanna look like a barbie doll, but i've seen some amazing and natural looking changes people have accomplished through plastic surgery. Life is so short, it's almost like, why not? But I agree that it should be things that you can't change w/diet and exercise....

i.e.----lipo because your too lazy to workout....

werd....i really like reading your point of view on this.....can you tell me more why you think boob implants at 21 are silly? because of the age or because my body is still changing? thanks girl :)

Not calling YOU silly, at all. Quite the opposite. I think it very mature of you to SERIOUSLY consider these things - not meaning that you want to have it done necessarily. But that you are treating something like this with the gravity it deserves.

Your body IS changing darlin'. You have your entire life ahead of you. You are just beginning to scratch the surface of your womanhood. Hell, I am closer to 40 than 30 and am STILL discovering what it is to be a woman.

Why on earth would you want implants? Did you know that they will have to be maintained and replaced? Do you earn a living with your body?... modeling/dancing? If you did, then I would still advise you to wait, but couldn't argue too much as it is an occupational hazard at that point. But for a girl so young to consider surgery of this sort, IMHO just isn't right.

I am only speaking from the viewpoint of a concerned "mother"-type. Not to insult your mom or any other wonderfully strong female role model in your life. I am only trying to help you understand my frame of reference.

You are young and beautiful just the way you are. If you want to hit the gym or engage in other sports to shape your body and strengthen your character and spirit - I say go for it. But to have such serious surgery that brings with it serious risks just to go up a cup size or two IMO is does not justify taking such risks or spending the money.

Keep it in the back of your head and sit on it. Research more till say 24. Even that is young if you've not had children and not earn your living with your "looks".

I also want to tell you honestly, I am biased. I nursed all of my children. Where you may not consider this important when your time for motherhood comes - it was VERY important for me. I have heard that one can still nurse a child with implants. Call me nutty - but I would not.

If you dont EVER intend to nurse your children, then still wait a bit and research. But if you even have the inkling of it then wait. At least that way you won't have an implant decide for you...

My 100% honest .02

1. I love small boobs. Big ones just aren't my thing - and I have had perfectly done huge boobs. Not my thing.

2. I have been under the knife many times when i got ran over by a boat - IMO - worst feeling ever to have to go under the knife. Someone digging around in you - it's an awefull feeling for me. I would never do it unless I had too.

Facts

1 Dont use plastic surgery to fight aging. You will lose.

2 Plastic surgery HURTS

3 Plastic Surgery is EXPENSIVE

4 Plastic surgery is a sad thing to happen to society. Normally you'd have wealth and looks as variables, now this makes them even more interchangable. Its going to cause a faster polarisation of wealth in society.

5 While you getting plastic surgery does not affect other people directly, you are indirectly forcing others to do the same. We live in a competitive world. If suddenly people start getting all their physical flaws corrected those who dont will be singled out and uglier than the rest just because they were unwilling or unable to get surgery done.

6 The mass media portrayed ideal of the female body is really just the body that no guy would mind having sex with. that doesnt mean it is the most attractive body to the man you will want to spend your life with. Damn near everyone likes pizza, but for most people pizza isnt the very best tasting food in the world. Its just that tacky, its the lowest common denominator.

Wise words from someone so young.

You are really a decent guy.... will grow into a fine man someday. Your parents must be so very proud.

There's also the difference between how people come across in the media and in real life... Í know some girls who model and look so damn good in their pro pics but they are def not the girls I know that appeal to me the most.

all I know is this.. the bigger and softer they are, the better they feel wrapped around your dick.. and they better they look with cum sprayed all over em...

YOu know.....Im not to say whats's "worth it."

I do think that if anyone is unhappy with their physical appearance and wants to change it - go for it.

you think it looks fake d3?

what if it was done to look natural not ugly duck lips?

Or.... what if you just drew a bit outside the natural line of your lips with a lippencil?

Call me nutty... but works for me.

Collagen costs about 4 - 500 HUNDRED bucks a pop and will last you about 4/5 months. I had mine done, but only to recapture the naturally crisp lines of my lips. They fade with time allowing a bit of feathering and wrinkling. Only the "camera" saw this improvement. But seeing as how I earned money, it was worthwhile.

That was about 3 years ago... haven't felt the need to have it done again. My lips are naturally well balanced and full though definitely caucasion-looking.

My younger sister has a very small upper lip and her lower lip kind of pouts which makes her upper lip looke even thinner. I keep telling her how to correct this with makeup but she can't be bothered.

Her take?

"If someone doesn't like the way my lips look, it won't hurt my feelings any if they choose to turn their head."

My sister has been happily married for over 10 years now to a great guy. So I guess in the grand scheme of things it wasn't all that important.

yeah its bad
i dont know if there are no good docs in minneapolis or what, but it just looks messed up

then it fades, and some of em end up with odd shaped mouths for a while
just not my cup of tea, but its not my place to make your choices, just wanted to let you know what i have seen

Lips: In a word...DON't! Injected fillers are expensive and don't last very long. Permanent implants in the lips are highly prone to infection (because the mouth is a very dirty place bacteria-wise. Both can make your lips move funny (rubbery) when you talk, and I would imagine they feel weird to people who kiss you. Also, surgery to any area alters the sensation somewhat. Would kind of make kissing boring, numb lips could make you drool...

Breasts: I did it and am very happy with it. BUT...realize that you must plan on replacing your implants every 10-15 years or so. Earlier if there's a rupture or other problem. If you're planning on kids, then wait and save at least 1 surgery. Otherwise you'll probably be needing a lift as well. Even if you don't have kids, realize that bigger boobs mean more weight to carry around on your chest, plus they'll sag more quickly.

Plastic surgery sucks. theres people with terminal diseases out there that no doc is finding time for, but we fix old mummies up with hopeless repairs endlessly.

young people getting it done is really quite pathetic imo. Unless maybe you have a freak condition and can't walk through the mall without people screaming

These are some very interesting points. You have a very wise perspective on this, some really good points!
#6 especially, I hadnt thought about it that way before. I guess I can see some truth in it. It never hurts to carry around some of these universal standards of beauty, so I suppose I could understand why people do it

but I guess all in all, I look down upon plastic surgery,
because it shows that you aren't content with what God has given you.

and it costs a lot of freakin money, that could be spent on feeding starving kids.

"Plastic Surgery"

My thoughts..

I am all for it, but done with careful consideration, responsibility, and thought. Whatever that may be, depends on your own decision making.

Something I always wondered....
Q:

Why can both "Women as well as, Men" change our bodies with going under a knife, and this practice be "accepted," to the general public? However, at the same time,... "Men" taking additional male hormones to better change, or alther the way he/we look, feel for the beter is considered an illegal practice, and criminal act. Why is this? As far as I know HRT (estrogen)for women is legal to this day, but for men,...well, we are basically screwed. Women can bennefit from surgery, as well as hormone manipulation, as men go through hell to get the hormones, as well as face jail time.

Rediculious.

its hard work
our society seems to try to shun those who are willing to not take the easy way out of altering thier apperance (lipo, calf implants, plugs)

this is true d3 and a good point, but i wonder if even if i was at my PEAK physical condition unable to go any further if I would still be happy w/myself because my boobs were too small :( something I will never be able to change from doing cardio or liftin.....ya know?

I can't speak for all men but i dont think that its a giant deal if a woman isn't perfect looking. At least in my experience as long as she is cute that is good enough. Then again, im not a woman, i don't have to advertise my fertility everywhere i go like they do.

How much would this surgery cost?

Why get lip implants? That seems excessive, the breast implants i can understand though.

Yeah, i guess for someone who is used to close friends and family members feeling her up that a total stranger would be pretty awkward.

I don't like it. If you are looking to enhance yourself, then you simply aren't happy or satisfied with what you have. Unless someone is hideous and actually disturbs people when they go out in public, (and you shouldn't have to suffer for being brought into this world that way and wanting to achieve whatever it is you want) then plastic surgery shouldn't be a concern. There are a lot of botched plastic surgeries where the patient ends up looking worse after it. And about boobs, there are natural alternatives to implants (ie estrogen). Implants are o.k. for pornstars and strippers, but that's it.

Are your breasts and your lips the only parts you think you need to change? I think you commented on this earlier but i have read that there are two types of people who get plastic surgery

1. those with defects that once the defect is changed they become more outgoing and like how they look better.

2. Those who find new defects to replace the old and feel the same way about themselves that they always did.

I am hoping/assuming you are no.1, but i dont know how you can test yourself for it. Someone who was in a car accident and has a facial scar would be a good example of person 1 though.
