ok. since tomm is Valentines day this is a question for the ladies and the men. Please be totally honest. When choosing a mate what would you say are the most important factors you need in a mate. Again I can not stress honesty, if your number one need is a big penis please post that then. :)

Please include your sex and age:

be specific if possible

:busy: :rose:

Male....age 29....looking for a female...who was born a female and currently has a heartbeat. Someone who will not stab me in the back or run off for a weekend with Satanic Goatslayer...I hate having to bring out my dark side for payback.

I need someone who is emotionally complete. Not someone who is going to mess with my one remaining brain cell via my last girlfriend. Physical beauty is helpful but I want someone who does the best with what she has.

Male... 27. I would say in choosing a mate... complete TRUST is essential... if I can't trust them, it is not going to work. Physical Beauty is important to me as well... I can't be with someone who is ugly... I'd never give them a chance? Intelligence... that I can be with someone on the same mental level. Drive and desire to succeed in life... I don't want to be with a bum, or an elementary school teacher... It is IMPORTANT that I am on the same level as my woman.

That being said, I believe I have found someone who has more than filled the above categories.... ;)

HI

I'm 40 years old....wife is 39 years old....Married 15 years.

I think the number 1 thing when looking for a mate is compatibility. Both of us have our own interests that are so different but we have more things that we are both interested in. I love to workout and play golf, softball, fix things around the house, etc. and she likes to go shopping, do crafts, read, etc. We both like to do things with our kids, travel, romance each other, suprising each other with gifts, etc. and other things. Now and then when she is doing her crafts, I'll sometimes sit and watch what she does and even do a few things to help her out with the crafts but I won't spend hours doing it. She'll watch me play golf or softball but she would never participate because she's not athletically incline.
Compatibility but yet different interests is a winning combination in my book! The two of you should compliment each other's(not the "you look good..you look sexy" type of compliment) actions.

sounds like your blessed, this brought a smile to my face...:)

Honesty

Honesty is foremost because it implies, respect and openess. I mean it doesn't hurt to have looks, you can't be attracted to someone if the're ugly. Sometimes compatibility can only get you so far, you can hang out with a chick and do things together but if che ain't honest its not gonna last....

Honesty is truely the key, I spent 3 and a half years with a girl...she was the love of my life, and we were as close as two humans beings can be. Attraction was love at first site, and at times the love and sex was at such a high level it was in a word majical. I was sure i would spend the rest of my life with this girl, and when i asked her to marry me she screamed "yes". Alas the story came to an end, I found out she was dishonest with me, the trust was broken...we have not spoken since...a week from now would have been 4 years...

Trust is essential

Oh yeh....Honesty! How could I have forgotten that!?! Thanks Lord_Suston, good call!;)

I guess I am old school when it comes to my relationship with my wife. We just trust each other so much and are completely honest with each other. All marriages have their rocky spots but when honesty and communication are entered into the equation, it makes for a good relationship.

Male age 29.

Honesty, integrity and patriotism.

There is just something about a women who loves this great country that is spectacular.

Of course I have to be attracted to her as well but there are so many beautifull women that are ugly on the inside. Now SG may disagree with me about the inside part...

Who doesnt love an attractive women in a wonder woman costume?

I feel for you HI! I don't think there is enough storage space on George's servers to list the things that make a good relationship. There are just so many! Big things, small things, etc! Love will find you when you least expect it! We dated six years before I asked her to marry me. I thought I knew her inside and out. Boy was I wrong! She does things that are always the right thing at the right time. I do too but she does more of them. She is an incredible woman and one I would never want to lose. Marriage will only work if both parties give 100%. 50/50, 60/40, 70/30 will never work. One person will always be shortchanged and that builds up over time into resentment.

I have always been told that when the two of you say "I Do", it's the last thing you will ever agree on. It's not that bad. Only you or her can make it that bad!

I'm Sorry to hear that HighIntensity... I read and quoted on the other thread about So, and man I hope it never happnes to anyone. Don't feel bad I'll be spending my V-Day with some liquor depress that my gf is away untill I'm done with school... another 4+ years...

Female here...and I guess the most important things I look for in someone are as follows:
1. Honesty
2. Trust
3. Physical Attractiveness
4. Has to make me laugh
5. Ambition to succeed in life
6. Someone who will put family first

Those are just some of the things on my checklist...;)

Morals are key, loyalty, honesty, ambition, oh and humor is REAL important, I have a weird sense of humor, athletic wouldn't hurt, must be attractive in my eyes...just someone genuine who doesn't put on an act for me...

Hummm...I guess sense of humor would be numero uno for me. I hate to say it, but I have yet to meet a woman I can really laugh with. Most of 'em just annoy me after a while (although, I'm sure they say the same about me, hehe).

Beyond that, it's a wide open field. I don't like limiting myself.

Money, money, money, money, money, and more money...and then uh, oh yeah:

1. Honesty
2. Trust
3. Physical Attractiveness
4. Has to make me laugh
5. Ambition to succeed in life
6. Someone who will put family first

Yeah that's about right. ;-)

For me, all I need is a woman with 2 vaginas. Can't get better than that.

This isn't the 'FULL' list. That one is way too long and I'm sure he doesn't exist. Even if he did he would probably not fit the last two criteria.....

  • A good set of morals and value system
  • A sense of humor I can relate to, aka, weird, and good-naturedly smartassed
  • A big genuine, considerate, compassionate heart
  • Smart
  • Got a lust for life. Somewhat adventurous.
  • Appreciate the beauty of nature, especially a starry night sky
  • Someone I might never run out of conversation or moments of comfortable silence with.
  • Attractive in my eyes...(translate: Does he turn me on?).
  • Adores me for who I am, faults and all, and lets me know that often.
  • Loyal, and not a cheater, never will be a cheater.

25/male

I don't think enough can be said about honesty, but I think self confidence/independence is also very important. I also look for:
physical attractiveness
personality
integrity
character
no smoking
likes fitness
intelligence
open minded/understanding
sense of humor

37 year old male checking in.

1. A Good Christian(because all the other things(trust, honesty, character etc. will follow if they are)
2. Effectionate
3. Frugal with money
4. One that is my best friend(and a awesome lover :D ) .

btw I have this in my wife of 17 years life is Grand.

Some of what you said was good but the part about the teacher is total shit!!

You think you are above someone cause they are a elementary school teacher and they aren't at your level.

Sorry man but that is just plain sad to label a woman like that.

I know many woman who are teachers who could have just as easliy been accountants, doctors, lawyers.

I think biddawg has a good point there. I mean here is a person(teacher) that devotes their life to helping and teaching others so they can succeed. I can't see a more fulfilling job other than being a missionary. Plus they get the summer off.

I agree!! I am an elementary school teacher!! True, I may not have money coming out my ass because of it, but you know what? I get to go home at the end of the day knowing that I made a difference in someones life...a childs life...and that makes it all worth it.
Citrucide--maybe you better think WHY people become teachers before you label them...Im sure you dont have what it takes to teach 6 year olds. I mean yeah, I could have easily chosen a career in which I could make a shitload of money and be unhappy with...but I chose a profession that makes me feel good at the end of the day.
It just really pisses me off when people label teachers....let me ask you this one question then?? Without a teacher where you would be today?? Just answer me that.

I'll have to agree with BigDawg, curling and alphaxi on this one! My wife is a teacher and has been for 18 years. It takes a special person to be a teacher. You can't tell me Citruscide that teachers are below you as far as not being on your level. That hits a nerve with me and some of the others here. Teachers are what made you a lawyer today. They helped you in more ways than you will ever realize. Your reasoning is pretty shallow on that particular subject. I'm sure you probably meant it another way but that is not the way it is being interpreted. Rethink that particular line of thinking.

My best freind is a teacher. The amount of work he puts in daily is astounding.

He's also the smartest person I know. I swear, that guy was getting high 90's in all his university classes, made the deans list ever year, and was gettting scholarship offers left and right.

He has 2 degrees and is getting his masters in mathmatics shortly. He could very easily go to work for an investment firm or computer company and make a six-figure salary, but he sticks with teaching because he loves it.

I didn't mean to get this thread off topic.

Maybe Citrus's works came out wrong I don't know.

But I just hate when teachers are put down. There just isn't enough respect given to teachers who bust their ass with quite often no positive recognition.

Sure there are bad teachers out there, but there are bad docs, lawyers and I.T people as well.

It takes a special person to forgo making a load of money because they want to teach today's youth.

Teachers are put down continuously. What makes it even worse is that they are grouped together as a whole when a school does not perform at an acceptable level. My wife has told me on several occassions that ever since she was in grade school, she always wanted to be a teacher. She is a good one at that. She stays after school and helps those who want help. She calls parents when students start to slack off and their grades suffer. When we dine out, if she sees a student with their parents, she always makes it point to speak with those parents and tell them good and bad what is happening with their child. She is old school! The way it should be.

People always say...."Well damn, they get the summers off...why wouldn't you want to be a teacher?" That's bullshit IMO! Teachers take classes in the summer, they have meetings at district functions during the summer. They attend workshops and some even teach summer school. It's not a cakewalk to being a teacher. The things they are held accountable for would get any white collared executive fired in no time! Sorry for being on a soapbox but some people just don't understand what teachers go through!
