what wrong with my TV?

is it hooked up to a VCR or some sort of external signal other than your aerial (PS2, DVD etc)

hows the picture then...if you still get the same problem its either a fault at the input of signal or the tube....is there a channel where the screen is all blue, or all black (like the AV channel)...if u still get the same problem then then i guess its definately something internal, possibly the tube or a related component (like the chip resposible for that area of the screen)

(btw im no TV expert and am essentially trying to figure this out with high school level physics but no-one else is replying so this is more of a bump)

tiny white lines top of screen usally several of them along the first 2-4 inches.
Cure--- change the vertical output chip, along with 2.4mf 25V capacitor.

repairs depend on the area.. My place charges for that particular repair $90-$95 includes parts & labor
50miles away they won't even take the back off of a set for no less than that!
You could always pay up front a $20 dollar diagnostic fee then you will have an idea if you wish to spend that amount,Note most places will credit the diagnostics toward your repair bill if you decide to have it repaired .
