Well, the WS6 TA is just a Camaro SS in diferent skin, with a softer suspension, and an extra 4 grand of cash to buy. The Saleen Mustang is no longer a Ford product like the WS6 and SS is a GM product, because it has been taken by a private company and modified from stock OEM conditions. The Saleen's cost what, between 33 grand for the slow ones and 50 grand for the superchargerd 351's? That's fine and everything, but if you want to talk about private companies, have you ever heard of Lingefelter Performance Engineering? They gave GM the fastest production car on the planet with the twin turbo C5. You can get an Fbody from them for about 41 grand that makes over 500 HP and the flywheel, runs low 11's in the 1/4 mile and does 170 MPH. That's what I call a true performance machine, if your talking about Private companies taking a stock car and changing it.
Stock for Stock, the Z28 WALKS on the little GT, and the SS smacks the Cobra around like it was it's jail bitch! The 4.6L motor is not a performance oriented motor. The torque cruve is peaky and not flat, and once the motor reaches it's peak HP level at about 5200 RPM, it DIES, where the LS1 has little to no drop off in power till nearly 6300 RPM STOCK! This is why you see stock 98-01 Fbody's running 12.9's with the 6 speeds and factory gears.
And where's Ford's stock Viper or Corvette? Why do they still use the T5? Especially since it can only handle about 300 HP before you begin to damage bearings and sycronizers? Why is ford still using a Strut type front suspension, and a four link rear? Why is the AOD and AOD-E the most unreliable slushbox of a tranny there is, and why didn't they give you the ability to lock second gear? What's with the fins and scoops that do nothing on the sides and hood of the car? What's with making the whole car out of steel, then making the trunk lid fiberglass to save weight? MORONS! Neither the Fbodys or the Mustang are perfect, but the Mustang has a lot more basic design flaws then the Fbody, which is why I'm a GM man. Like I said, at least it's not a peice of Jap Mass produced, cookie cuter, crap.
