What Was Arnolds Motivation For Bodybuilding?

Woody said:
He told Johnny Carson that he was standing in front of a mirror nude and his legs looked out of proportion; so he decided he needed to build up his legs. :D :D :D

From what Ive read, He decided to build up his legs after he lost his first Olympia. Joe wieder told him he lost because his calves were too small so he cut the legs off all his pants so he could see his weakness and that would drive him harder.

I believe his father took him to the gym once to work his legs out for track and He loved it so much he became addicted.

Arnold is a very interesting man. Love his movies. I use his pictures for inspiration.

I believe Arnold had a construction type business in the early '70s and made a fortune one home repairs after the San Bernadino Quake. I live there then and at age 12 it scare the crap out of me.
Think it was like 7.6mag. Arnold also felt pressured to impress his father and compete with his brother.

I do remember he said he used to squat tree stumps in the forest with his friends.

In his unauthorized biography it says that Arnold was so serious about not missing training that one day when the gym he worked out at was closed he climbed a ladder and broke in thu an upstairs window to train. The incidence was dismissed by the owner who understood arnolds motivation. No heat in his gym. Winter often had the tips of his half glove fingers sticking to the metal

he graduated college with a degree in economics... possibly a doctorate? im not really sure, i forget. but still, hes no dummy. seen him on the bill o'reilly show a few times while commenting on certain issues. as an economist, he knows what works and what doesnt in the world. he is a truly great man...

Arnold loved the competition, he loved being the best in the sport of bodybuilding, he said the pump he would get in the gym was like having sex and most importantly Arnold was a master at psyching out the competition. Even though his opponents actually looked good he could talk them out of being confident and always made them aware of their weak points. He was truly one of the best to ever compete.

yeah, in his modern encyclopedia of bodybuilding he talks about how during a competition on stage he told frank zane a joke right before they were supposed to pose and zane could not gain composure from the laughing and could not concintrate on the pose.
