what to do with ground up turkey?

you could cook it like you would ground beef for spagetti sauce, then add a can of diced tomatos ,garlic and basil. It tastes pretty good. The tomatos are low cal. no fat, carbs 24grams for the whole can. A dash of olive oil would be good as well.

I cook up lean ground turkey and/or lean ground beef and store it in tupperware in the fridge. I usually mix about 8-10oz with a cup of brown rice and a low carb spaghetti sauce. This is not a real low carb meal but it tastes just like spaghetti and I eat it quite often when I am not on a low carb diet

how low are you trying to keep the carbs?

i have an awesome recipe for turkey meatloaf, but it does call for some breadcrumbs and ketchup.

I actually grilled up a pound of ground turkey yesterday. I threw in some Worcestershire Sauce (less than a gram carbs per tsp.), onions, seasonings, and crushed red pepper. cut it up and ate it in the car- good stuff.

I make turkey burger &/or sausage....Mix ground turkey with egg whites & breadcrumbs or oatmeal (dry) & spices: pepper, italian seasoning, garlic powder for burgers & sage, pepper garlic, & pot herbs for sausage. Hot sauce &/or cayenne pepper in both. form into patties. Cook as you wish. YOu can also make meatballs with either recipe.

Just a warning that the turkey mince that you buy is not necssarily similar to turkey breast meat in nutrient profile, it can be really surprisingly high in fat.

Your welcome killabee:) I was just thinking what tuc said. You have to be careful with ground turkey, they grind up skin and fat...it can be really full of junk unless it specifically says ground turkey breast.

bump for the jerky!

Mix the ground turkey w/ veggies (steamed or stir-fryed with light olive oil). Fill a container with this, and use the mixture for soups/tortillas/salad toppings/ pita topping.
