what the afterlife is like...

hey guys..i just heard horrible news today..my friend was driving home from his gf's house and was going too fast on a turn and his car went over a cliff and he died instantly...such a horrible and gruesome death they wouldn't even let the parents or his brother see his body because they said it needed to be reconstructed because of how hard the impact was...made me feel like complete SHIT and i was supposed to go the gym later that day but when i got there i just teared up a little when i saw some guy that resembled him a little bit...n i just had no motivation to work out at all...

i kept wondering the whole day...i'm so scared of dying...i have no idea where we're gonna go or what happens to us...sure they can preach to us at a church or temple or whatever what is waiting for us...but there is no HARDCORE proof of what will happen - we don't really know if there is a heaven or hell...or reincarnation...or WHAT...what we know about the afterlife is all faith-based if you think about it...i'm terrified to die...i don't know whats gonna happen to me...what do you guys think awaits us? i have no idea and i don't want to find out...i mean i'm no evil anti-christ...but i'm no saint either...i'm just a pretty nice guy trying to get by...who knows what awaits... ? :verygood: ? :mix:

my condolences too

just live life as it is man.
i've always wonderd that too, and i used to be terrifiyed of dying aswell.
untill i came across some great people, former customers of mine but the buisness i was doing.
they're Jahova's witnessess...( i am not one nor do i follow any religion) im more of the "see it to believe it" kinda guy
i talked to them for like 3hrs about it all and honestly to me... their theory of life and death makes alot of sense to me and gave me "relief" so to speak.

it says that "Yes there is an after life, and that god forgives all, whom somewhat lived a loyal lifestyle"... or something to that nature.
apparently afterlife is great and everything we wishand/or could immagine.
but again im a see it to believe it person.
supposedly its very harmonious and plesant. but who am i to speak?
im not preaching anything, or saying to take up a religion (if u have or havent)
but from personal experience, and being what i was in your nature "terrifiyed of death"
really gave me a relief of that.
states thing of how our sould DO exist, but were here on earth in human/ life form, the soul moves on....
and honest truthful suggestion on my part would be to get ahold of "the watchtowers"
its a jahova's witness "bible" theres a broken down version in understandable terms, and breaks down all the questions u may have, or concerns.

im not a jahovas witness like i said again, but for all the questions that i've had about the human existance, life, death, afterlife...etc its the only thing that made sence to ME.
i'd say give it a read see how you feel.
some people may have negative remarks pretainging to my response, but everyones their own person and have their own belifs.
thats just my 0.2cents. maybe that could come of some help for you.

once again my respectful condolences
but i talked with them

Looked into the Jehovas Witnesses extensively and like every other religion they're a money making business....they're headquarters are at a place called Bethel in Brooklin NY. If you go there you'll see the people that run the whole show driving in and out with their brand new cars (which makes you wonder how many copies of the Watchtower and Awake they have to sell to buy one of those).

Regardless I think they're one of the less damaging religions out there and a lot of the morals they try to live by are comendable.

On the subject of the afterlife they believe in ashes 2 ashes, dust 2 dust but that the righteous or chosen will be resurrected again to paradise earth once Satan has been allowed his post armageddon 1000 year reign?

I suppose they offer comfort to those of a certain need but i wouldn't dig too deep

sorry to here about the death of a good friend.

many people in your situation turn to religion, because if you can believe, it will answer all your questions. In your state now you might be vunerable to it, so it could work if you wanted to go that route.

I myself and comortable with just not knowing.

sorry to hear that man. fear is a natural response to the unknown, but there is no point in fearing what awaits. have faith in what you believe and what comes, comes

I don't think he knows what to believe at this point.

Death smiles on all of us, all we can do is smile back. :)

It is very scarey how true that actually is........Dev you are so right on so many levels

I'm sorry to hear about your friend.

It might sound weird but I feel fortunate to have lost a parent at a young age. I grew up around a lot of death. It was a normal topic to discuss and ponder. As a result my sister and I are completely fearless of death. It's part of life and there's no sense worrying about it.

Every minute we have is a gift. I've always been aware that some freak thing could happen to me or others at any given moment. Life isn't a right. It's a gift. Because of that, I speak my mind and live my life as me without playing games or being scared to explore my feelings. If I died in 2 minutes I wouldn't have regrets. The people I love in my life would know exactly how I felt. No regrets.

As for the afterlife-- it's just a great adventure.

I think the afterlife is manifested as a culmination of our life experiences on earth, because that is what builds (or destroys) our souls. And once our souls are released.....
