Mine is around 36 inches. It sucks, but oh well, gotto live with it for now. I feel like Fat Bastard.

never had water retention in my stomach, that I've noticed....it mostly hits me in my face and neck..........

JKurz, what do you mean by "if you do it correctly"? I'd like to see your example of the "Correct bulking diet".

Juve...jesus man. How old are you? And how tall?

KIC............"Keep It Clean".............I just don't gorge myself............solid, excess cals and cardio throughout...just works for moi........

when you are measuring waist, are you measuring at the navel, or below the navel or above or what?

I like to measure both, then take half the distance to the goal line ;)

Unfortunately..........you're right....that is the best way....lol.
You have less fat to get off during the cutting phase....ergo, less chance for muscle loss because of a short cutting diet.

Still bulking as always, and my waist size actually went down. About 35 3/4 down from 36+. Deadlifting definately adds some of the waist thickness. My diet has been cleaner lately though, mostly homemade stuff and less fast food. A few changes in diet and I can keep it manageable. Its cheaper to eat this way anyway, and has been real effective. More protein shakes, peanut butter, bread and cheese. I made a pound of ground beef in tacos with sour cream, cheese and salsa the other day. I ate some fast food today though, 2 double quarter pounders w/ cheese for breakfast with some fries. Time for more food!!

Now, now.....let's not get nasty....al I said was you won't be LARGE without getting a little bit chunky during bulking....just a matter of science....I never said FAT, in fact, I am very against getting fat to gain muscle.......but, it's virtually impossible to put on a nice chunk of mass and hold on to the abs....finding that out the hard way.......I'd rather go by bf% than waist size.....NEVER higher than 12%............

I'm not being nasty. You offen tend to post with a "my word is the almighty" attitude. The common theme in your replies is if you can't do it no one else can.

Considering that I can fit into 30" (@~7%BF) waist pants easily 32 is a "bulky" for me. I'm 5' 9".

Tell me why (if you precisely "calorie count") you can't gain muscle without raising BF above 10%?

OR, it's just interrepted that way....I'm far from almighty..........anywho, I've just never seen it done.....if you can do it, you got great genetics....I eat very clean, all the time, and that's my biggest downfall.....all the guys my bro hangs with that compete, eat whatever, bulk big time and then shred up......it's just too hard the other way, but give it a shot........

I wish I had great genetics. My father's side of the family tends to be "chubby". I doubt it's a cultural issue either like the American obesity epidemic because I'm from Brazil. Other then my recent medical set back (which I'm now recovering from) that set me back in my training and diet I always have to work very hard to stay at 7-10% BF. Even so I find it very possible to do it while gaining muscle.

Sorry to hear about your condition...........are you still 155lbs? You'll see what I mean....it's a lot easier to be very skinny and maintain 7%bf, but try and get to 190 or 200....then 215, 225.....that's where it gets fun.....you should be able to stay lean at least up to 180 and maybe more.....but, you got a ways to go bruh......eat up and don't worry so much about your %......

I suppose my goals are a little different. That may change in a the future. Right now I have no real desire to be over 165-170 7-8% BF @ barely 5' 9". Last year I was 155 @ ~6.5% BF which was a personal accomplishment for me. I'm almost back there.

I'm at 34'' right now at 6'1''... I wear 36'' pants so my legs can fit into them LoL.... in the process to leaning up, still got a ways to go... stomach is pretty flat, except for small pooch right at belly button, loves are still there.. smaller, but there... and I dont know what the fuck is up with my pecs... I have an awesome upper chest/shoulders btu my lower pecs around my nippples havea chunkier look.

I'm just finishing with a bulk cycle and I can't wear my damn carharts. Waist is about a 38 right now. It sucks.

29.5" now...when it gets like 1" over optimal size, i go back to cutting til optimal again.

an alternative i'm playing around with is tracking my fat measurements using a caliper. say i do 3 sites and the total for the optimum is 18MM. when the total increases by 3 or more (21+MM), go back to cutting until 18MM again.

When bulking I can easily reach 290lbs. At 6'1" my pants are 40 sometimes 42 but much of this is dependent upon leg size.

THat's my favorite line............how true it is, 1-2 sizes is one thing but I love the 300+lb slob at the gym who says "Oh yeah, I wear a 42 pant cause my legs are so damn big, but really my waist is 34........"

LOL at Jkurz.

If you are 300lbs and can fit in a pair of 42 pants then you are one big, strong dude, not a fatty lol, even if you say your waist is 34".

Get your measurements right man.

Do you really expect a 300lbs guy to have a 34" measurement?

I bet you money guys like Dave Tate and the Westside guys and any big ass powerlifter have waists over 40+ on average. Doesn't mean they are pure lardo's. The bigger you get the bigger and stronger your waist gets plain and simple.

Any guy claiming a waist 34" or less that weighs over 250lbs is either A. Ripped and most likely on roids, or B. has a very small waist in proportion to his overall size, think Frank Zane or Flex Wheeler weeny waist.

I'm not saying this is true in every case, but it's pretty right on.

not a very fair poll :D

when i was lean i had a 38" waist at 6'5" 220.

now that im 6'5" 270 i have a 42 inch waist.

(i have an enourmous frame)

30, but I guess I do not know how to bulk, I am new..but I am so slim, that anything above 32 would be weird and gross..

I measure right above the hip bone, about where I wear my pants.

34-35. Feel like a fat fucker.
That really depends on your build. Arnold competed with a 34'' waist, and by no means was a "fat fucker". When I am at 8% I still have a 36'' waist.

I guess your right. Even when I was in high school 14 years ago I was around a 34. My waist is just big wheter I am fat or not.

Good idea: Don't bulk and cut. Just gain LBM slow and steady and keep your BF lower than the chances of national health care.

:D

Agreed! Slow but steady increases with 0 gain in bodyfat. The last 4.5 months I've been able to drop bf down 2~3% while increasing my weight 5lbs.

Doesnt change, one belt hole, if that........shouldnt really if you are doing it correctly

bullshit bro, everyone puts it on different.

I wear size 36 jeans but they are big on me (very loose at the waist, tight at the thighs), if I were to use 34's I wouldn't get over my thighs and if I did I'd look like a chick.

I wear a 36. I have a bit of a bit of a bulk belly right now and I am perfectly fine with that. My accu measure calipers give me an average of 15%, but I can still see the outline of my abs. I do not plan on getting any fatter, but I do not plan on cutting any time soon. I am around 225 at 5"10" right now and I want to push my weight up to 240-250 in the next 18 months. Then I will cut and do my first cycle.

Damn you're pretty big already. When I get measured at the gym, they tell me 14-15%. Damn, seems high to me. I can see the outline of my upper abs also(lower one is hiding behind fat). I'm 5'9" and about 180. I've been considering cutting b/c I notice my belly too, but now I see I have some catching up to you. haha.

I would love to keep that 23-24 inch waist I had in my 20's, but three kids later I strive to get to 26. Currently 27 inches at 5'5" 127lbs. The last time I bulked I reached 135lbs and my waist was 28.5. Too thick for me.

I feel fat as hell right now with a 38" waist at 5'10"...but I have a 52" chest and 21" arms right now...would love to keep arms and chest the same and get down to a 31" waist!
