Maybe we don't. but like some people have a need for religion, I have a need for purpose.

Reading, working out, job, doing good for others....great. But it isn't enough sometimes.

I really don't think that a person can set down their "purpose" in life in stone. It is something that is subject to change with the different events and expereinces in life. I am not a huge believer in fate or destiny.....so I really find it hard to comprehend the idea of being placed in the world with a set purpose or agenda.

i doubt there is a reason. i am guessing the need for purpose is just some biological trick that serves evolution & survival somehow. but i don't know how.

Purpose questions? Questions like that are better left unanswered. Someone can't determine what their purpose is, but rather their purpose is defined by their actions. You can either sit around and wonder what your purpose is... or just live your life, doing what you like and be happy.

Hmm.

This question has been coming up a lot around me lately.

Over the years I've come to a conclusion that I use for myself - it's the experience as the greater whole.

The prospect of crossing in and out of the lives of others, changing, growing, hopefully having some sort of positive affect on the lives of others and learning from how you change and grow and how others may change and grow.

To think that you are here for some special purpose - finding the cure to Cancer or the like is a self-defeating. You'll be so concerned with perfection and the attainment of some greater good you will spend your life chasing after something and forget to live enjoy and share your life with others. That's not to say one should lack ambition or goals because without them you would not grow as a person.

I think we all have a special gift that we use or offer to others but I don't see every human being having their own unique purpose in their lifetime. Sometimes one's purpose may be a simple as listening to someone and offering a bit of forgotten kindness.

I dunno.

Just a few random thoughts.


On the flipside - sometimes I think were just characters created for the entertainment of aliens.
