What is with the never ending fascination with fight club?

I will throw up if I hear one more person say anything similar to "....MTV...." when trying to label a group of people. Jesus, how played out and gay.

Fight CLub was a great movie, ive been in many fights and i love it, i saw it like 10 times, and i won't mind seeing it more.

You sound like an MTV clone.

I can't believe only Hannibal, Steel Beast, and myself are the only ones who saw that FC was NOT just about fighting. Its painfully obvious there is SO much more. Lemme guess, those of you who think that its only about fighting probably have never listened to a song lyric by the likes of Sara McLaughlin(sp), Rage, Bob Marley, or countless others who actually force you to listen and think about their songs. God forbid you should ever open up your mind and take in a movie's deeper meaning. Shallow doesn't even begin to describe you people.

Now now...there's no need for name calling. Freak Show we are of the same mindset. However to say that their interpretation of this movie is any less valid than ours is wrong. Everyone takes different things from the world they see around them. It's funny that this movie evokes such a strong response. Be it positive or negative the reaction is always great. You either LOVED it or you HATED it. I fall into the former group of course. For me personally it made me really think. I actually have seen it several times..and each time I find something that I missed before...read the book twice. Still say that the book is better.

i really liked fight club.
there is more to it then fighting.
i have been in plenty of fights.
i hate mtv.
i hate fast and the furious.

Okay, but you still haven't touched on the homo-erotica!

Like I said: themost homoerotic movie since Spartacus.

Remember when one the one guy provoked the fight by spraying the other with a hose? That was in the previews. It was meant to look like the one ejaculating on the other--even the director said that.

And how pain was so sexualized? And Norton leering over Pitt's body, being jealous of the girl when she came over and Pitt screwed her? All of it.

Just curious what you macho boys think of it in that respect.

BTW...the worst choice of actors for the part was Meatloaf. In the book Bob was supposed to be a greek adonis with gyno...and he had long flowing blonde hair...damn I hate Holywood sometimes.

I've never noticed any "homoerotic motif" to it, and I've never heard anyone mention anything about it before, but I know a lot of people who love the movie and have discussed it with them. Do you have to have homoerotic tendencies to notice homoerotic motifs?
:fro:

This is the author of the book (Palahniuk) talking about how the director of the movie (David Fincher):

But Palahniuk says that director Fincher intentionally emphasized scenes like the one where Pitt's Tyler puts a gun barrel down the narrator's mouth. "David played it up for effect. One time he laughed and said, 'This is the most homo movie ever!

That was my impression watching it. I thought: "This is so over-the-top! They're not even being subtle! They're saying: 'Norton's character and Pitt's are so hot for each other!!"

It was there. They all knew it was there. I agree with Hannibal, though. It was just one aspect of the movie, not the whole thing. Just makes me laugh because half the guys who are so "Fight Club is the best movie ever!!" are the same guys who'd go into alpha-male rage if anyone who questioned their sexuality.

Oh yeah: I found the above quote b/c I have insomnia, and I knew that the key words "fight club" and "homoerotic" would turn up a billion links on any search engine.
