What is the army reserves, Im still 33 so i could join

reserves are trained just like regular forces,and if a war happens your expected to fight and know what the fuck your doing just like the rest of the guys.

the reserves are the first to go. but you could do 20 years in the reserves and recieve a retirement. but you do run the risk of going to war and with this presedent im not surprised if hes brewing another one up as we speak.

exactly right. the reserves are different from the national guard b/c the reserves are simply that, units in reserve for regular army. the nationl guard are units that are primarily used for stateside missions. you will receive the same training as your regular army counterpart and will be expected to perform the same if activated. i know the age cutoff without a waiver at one time was 32, but considering the fact that retention is low, im sure you would not have a problem enlisting.

It's pretty good pay considering it's one weekend a month and two weeks a summer( I was in college). However, if you don't want to be deployed join a combat arms MOS. Yes, it seems counterintuitive but it's true, which means the NG is probably your best bet and they offer enlistment bonuses. The ONG does pay 100% of your tuition and fees for a State University.

with things the way they are, you join the reserves, youre going to go fight. then youre going to get stop lossed, and probably wind up in a war zone for 2 years. seriously. guys who expected to see one, maybe 2 tours of duty as pro soldiers worst case scenario are now there for their 3rd. thousands are dead. tens of thousands are wounded. youd have to be pretty stupid to sign up thinking youre just going to get some extra cash, no offense
