What is PIRACETAM?

Piracetam (technically known as 2-oxo-pyrrolidone) was developed in the mid-1960's by UCB pharmaceutical company of Belgium. It was originally used to treat motion sickness. (1) Between 1968 and 1972, however, there was an explosion of Piracetam research which uncovered its ability to facilitate learning, prevent amnesia induced by hypoxia and electroshock, and accelerate electroencephalograph return to normal in hypoxic animals. (1) By 1972 700 papers were published on Piracetam. (1) Yet already by 1972 Piracetam's pharmacologic uniqueness led C.E. Ciiurgea, UCB's principal Piracetam researcher and research coordinator, to formulate an entirely new category of drugs to describe Piracetam: the nootropic drug. (2)

According to Giurgea, nootropic drugs should have the following characteristics:

1) they should enhance learning and memory.
2) They should enhance the resistance of learned behaviors/memories to conditions which tend to disrupt them (e.g. electroconvulsive shock, hypoxia).
3) They should protect the brain against various physical or chemical injuries (e.g. barbiturates, scopalamine).
5) They should ''increase the efficacy of the tonic cortical/subcortical control mechanisms."
6) They should lack the usual pharmacology of other psychotropic drugs (e.g. sedation, motor stimulation) and possess very few side effects and extremely low toxicity.

Please explain it to me

Piracetam is a derivative cyclic of the GABA receptors, and also stimulates the Corpus Callosum. The Corpus Callosum is the area in your brain that sends communications and signals between the two hemispheres of the brain.

Piracetam has been shown to increase cognition, intelligence, and memory while it is effectively active in the body. There's other substances, chemicals, drugs, herbs and whatever else you want to call them that work in synergy with Piracetam.

Personally I take Neuro Boost by Smart Drugs for Thought, in 800mg capsules. I take my Piracetam with Choline Bitartrate, Picamilon and L-Theanine.

The reason I take Picamilon and L-Theanine with my Piracetam is because both L-Theanine and Picamilon work on elevating the GABA and thus the effects of Piracetam. I sometimes take the stack I just mentioned with caffeine as well, depending on if I want to take the time of making a cup of coffee.

Piracetam also stimulates the ATP (Much like creatine) and your cardiovascular system. It helps thin the blood as well and distribute oxygen through out your body. So if you were to take this with your pre-work out stack you should see positive effects. Since the thinning and stimulation of your cardiovascular system should lead to evenly and thoroughly distributing your work out stacks, as well as the bonus benefit of stimulated ATP caused by the usage of Piracetam.

What sparked your initial interest in Piracetam if you don't mind me asking?
