"I never asked Michael to be a playmaker. That's the greatest player I ever had, that I could consider the greatest player in the game. Yet, I never asked him to be a playmaker in those terms. I asked him to be a playmaker when he was doubled or tripled, but Kobe was asked to set up the offense, to advance the ball, to read the defense, to make others happy, and he's doing a great job of it." -- PHIL JACKSON

is it good or bad about kobe.. i can't tell

what the fuck is sk saying in this quote????

Good, but could be better.

lol..

yeah.. so is he saying that michael never had to be taught any of that.. but that he pretty much had to walk kobe through how to be a playmaker? or is he talking about two different things one being "playmaker".. and the other being something else that does all the setting up of the offense, reading the defense, advancing the ball, etc etc (which i thought was being a playmaker)..

jackson always has something up his sleeve when he comes out with comments like these. it's meant to light a fire under kobe I guess.

yeah.. and the fucker always talks in such broad generalities or ambigous terms that you never know what the hell to make of any of his comments..

I think he is acknowledging that he is not really a great coach at all, that he has been in situations where phenomenal players made him look good.

actually from reading it again phil is saying that kobe is as good as jordan, but in a different way, comparing what jordan did to what kobe does. I think it's a very good compliment.
