What is most anabolic? Insulin vs Steroids

Okay, I have a question for all. From a bodybuilding standpoint and putting on lean mass, What do you think is most anabolic, Insulin or Steroids?

I have heard insulin is very anabolic and you keep your gains when you come off of it and steroids you do not keep gains for long periods. Typical steroids might be Sust 250 and Nandrolone vs Insulin.

PS: I do not recommend anybody taking insulin unless you are positively sure and know what to do. It can cause a diabetic coma and death!

Look forward to your comments!
Thanks! Geoff

Debatable and depends on where you're looking at it from. For example, muscle hypertrophy can occur in the complete absence of androgens, but CANNOT occur in the absence of IGF-1.

I gained more muscle from $28 (a 10ml vial) worth of insulin than I did from an expensive 10 week cycle. The problem is that with insulin, even with being very careful to eat as little fat as possible for five (long) hours after injecting, I still gained more fat than I gained muscle. I even only ate 4g of carbs per IU of insulin and still gained fat.

Note, I've managed my wife's insulin for over 20 years, so I'm comfortable with only 4g of carbs per IU. For a new user, I suggest 10g per IU. Also, since I'm a borderline type II diabetic, my gains were greater from insulin than what a younger and healthier person might see.

To date, I have made the most spectacular gains ever from Fina. I rarely make very substantial gains from AAS otherwise but usually keep most of what I do get. As for insulin, the jury is still out as I am doing that now with 3 mg (9 ius) of serostim 2X daily and I am actually on less than the prescribed normal HRT doseages because I am trying to extra clean out my system in preparation for going on cycle in two weeks and am on nothing more hormone wise. So far I have gained six pounds in a week AND leaned out. But my case is unusual--see below.

Well this "mystery" is for Geoff Garst. I recently have been experiencing elevated blood glucose levels. Considering that I have always tended to be on the hypo side with a nonfasting blood glucose usually between 70-80. Suddenly, a couple of months ago, the non fasting level was 144 mg/dl. Upon rechecking, the nonfasting level was 181 mg/dl and the estimated mean blood glucose from the urinalysis was 110 mg/dl. However, the hemoglobin A1C was only 5.9% which is normal . So we did a fasting set of labs two weeks later which came out at 148 mg/dl for glucose after a 12+ hour fast, estimated mean blood glucose from the urinalysis had increased to 120 mg/dl and the hemoglobin A1C, although still normal had increased to 6.2%. I am also showing some symptoms of diabetes, like my reading vision is sh*t anymore and I am constantly thirsty to name a few plus my toes feel weird--kind of numbish and yes there is a history of it in the family. The symptoms started a couple of months ago and have been consistent, not coming and going. So, because it takes forever to get an appointment with my doc, which is now next week (I had to make it a month ahead of time) and I was tired of feeling like crap, I started insulin--humalog to be exact. After determining what dose I would start with, I ended up finally with 25 IUs two times per day. I have not had a problem with it even though I do not eat ANY carbs or sugar but only whey protein (unsweetened) for the first up to five hours after taking it, I have had no signs of going hypo or any lightheadedness. So am I safe to assume that I have sufficient blood glucose to "mop" up this amount as I have been doing for a week now? I do keep some juice handy in case I detect going hypo or feel light headed but haven't had to use it. Also, I have noticed that I am really getting noticeably leaner but have gained six pounds and feel very pumped--I also gained 3/4 inches around my arms alone. Just looking for input.
