110%

New member
i do 50 grams 100% whey protein, 75 grams dextrose, 5 grams glutamine right now. when im bulking i throw 5 grams creatine in there too cycling it. what do u do?

I like Optimum nutritions Power Mass 1000. The chocolate is yummy :p It has about 800 calories mixed with skim milk and you get about 50 grams of protein and 140 grams of carbs.

I use the recovery formula from protein factory (vanilla or orange flavor, sweetend w/ splenda):

45g dextrose
20g maltodextrin
25g hydro 520 whey
5g glutamine peptides
5g BCAA

how does body digest that kind of intake? you probably eat too? is the body actually able to process no matter what the amount of calories/protein/carbs you put into your body postworkout or is there some sort of limit????

I usually have 50g of whey, either CytoPro or HumanoPro and honey - the amount of honey depends wether I'm bulking or cutting.

Post-cardio, I have a sweet potato and baked coley/cod steaks (45g of pro.)

I use BioTest Surge, high priced but kicks ass, then hr later a huge bkd potato and half pound of top round, and a large salad.

When i am on a bulking diet I generally eat 6 meals a day with the calories of each meal in the 700-800 range. My after workout meal is the only meal with simple carbs, so I choose the Power Mass 1000 shake because it's an easy meal to make, and it has the simple carbs and a good amount of protein.

My post work out meal usually consist of a shake made from , strawberrys, blue berries, banana, blackberries, carrots and a yogurt mixed in a blender, and a small amount of protein power. I have seen a lot of improvements using natural food over carb/protein drinks. The fruits will give you all the vitamins, antioxidants, and enzyme's needed to recover from a hard workout and to prevent muscle wasting.

My shake consist of 2 scoops Isopure 0 carb with a banana and some frozend strawberries. Should I be puting anything else in there. I am not really trying to get too big.

2 scoops of optimum chocolate whey with water and adding 1 tbs of honey. Ordered some Myoplex so will use that as my post workout shake for a change hopefully it will get here soon.

I take 45g Whey and 100-120g dextrose when bulking also ½ can of tuna, but of course not in the shake..10g kreatin, 1g C-vit, 400mg ALA

When cutting(low carbs, med. fat, HIGH protein) I lower the dextrose to 30-40g.

What's up with Maltodextrin? I've been using Apple Juice in my post-workout shake, but I just saw on the Mendosa site that the GI of apple juice is like 56, and the GI of Maltodextrin is like 150! Is this necessarily better for post-workout? What about calories? And how's the stuff taste anyway? Thanks.

Man, now I just re-read the thread and I see DEXTROSE everywhere too! Can anybody please shed some light on these two (Maltodextrin and Dextose)? Appreciate it.

from what ive learned from this board...

these two forms of gluclose r best after weight training because they 'refuel' or replenish ure muscles the best out of any carb. fruit is not as good because it replenishes ure liver stores, which is good in terms of being healthy, but not interms of muscle replenishment.

however they should be taking in conjunction with a high protein liquid for full benefit.
i personally do not take them...though have just started taking a recovery drink straight after w/outs. It is high in carbs and most of it is sugar..this will go straight to my torn muscles, giving my muscles the fuel it needs.

please correct me if i am wrong...but thats my 2c

I have a Postworkout shake in the AM that consists of:

42g Maltodextrin

20g CFM Whey

20g Hydrolyzed whey 520

10g Hydrolyzed Caseinate

8g Glutamine peptides

Thanks Rez... have some Karma.

Damn Okie! You're post-workout shake reminds me of those chemistry labs I used to snooze through ;)... mix this, wait 15 minutes, add that...

OKIE... sounds like you also buy from the Protein Factory!!!
I like the mix ....but do you ever use Bovine Serum in your mixes? Is it worth adding?

Thanks, I buy from them too.....

2 scoops of designer protein and 2 scoops of utlra fuel mixed with water... about 380 cals, 35 grams of protein and 45+ grams of carbs.

I do this after completing my workout which is usually around 6:45am.

I then go home and get ready for work and around 7:45 have 6 egg whites 1 yolk, 1tbs flax and a bowl of oatmeal.

That is right.. You'll want to take high gi carbs and quick digestive protein (whey) post workout for optimal performance and recovery.

Yeah, I really like the Protein Factory...I have never added the Bovine Serum, but have heard good things about it. I do like the Night Formula before bedtime, except for the thickness.

I am currently using a 28 g Whey and about 65 g carbs (dex) post workout....

OKIE.. Last question.....your post-workout shake..... Have you ever tried the post-workout formula? Hydro 520 and Dex/Maltodex carbs? Yours seems like it should help keep you anabolic for a little longer with the diff types of protein....I feel the dextrose is a little hard on my stomach? I may change the dex to maltodextrin.
Thanks.....

Yeah, I've tried their formula and I like it, but I feel that this mixture gives me better recovery and I like the maltodextrin better. The taste is a little bitter, but you get used to it.
