Sorry to tell you this, but they are indeed bullshit. The fact that your GF got a 140 probably means that she is fairly intelligent, but it does not mean that she actually has an IQ of 140, which would make her borderline genius. I got tested by an actual test that took about 3 hours to take and scored a 132, but I've taken tests on the Internet that say my score is anywhere from the upper 140s to the lower 150s. IQ is highly overrated anyway. My father is an Orthopedic Surgeon and scored a 115 on the same test I took. Hard work and determination are what's important.

1 in 2,500,000

Assuming a random distribution IQ scores in the US, with 100 being average, and a 16 point standard deviation, you scored in the top 120 US citizens.

I was referring to a friend of mine that I know has some sort of a brain, just isnt good at sitting down and writing a test. Personally, I think an IQ test is pointless. I could never understand how one test can account for a persons total intelligence...

I scored 136 on a Mensa test.. not high enough for Mensa but hey, it was good enough for my PhD....

IQ is not bullshit. Average IQ is 100. University undergraduates/graduates rarely have IQ's less than 110. I remember reading some studies to this effect.

Go figure, I'm a mensa - 179 IQ, registered.. Yet, my nickname is platehead - I look and act like an animal in the gym. My vocabulary came out a George Carlin dictionary and everybody that knows me outside of my job (I manage computer nerds) thinks I'm just a dumb roid head... It's amazing what a high IQ can do for your image!

British Mensa uses two main tests to identify people's IQ scores, the Cattell B Test and the Culture Free Test.
A pass level which puts you in the top 2% will qualify you for membership of Mensa.
A middle aged adult can only get a maximum IQ of 161 on the Cattell "B" test.

Don't know about USA... but 179 sounds a bit high if you know what I mean...

You guys who are saying that there is little difference in a ten point differential on an IQ test are only a little correct. True, there is very little difference between a 90 and 100 intelligence quotient. THERE IS A GREAT DEAL OF DIFFERENCE between a 140 and 150 intelligence quotient. In the upper ranges of IQ scores, each point is much more difficult to gain than in the lower ranges.

So let me guess.. everyone will now have 160 IQ as well as being 230lb and benches 315 using a 9-inch dick.
Smarts ain't everything...I think one of the worlds smartest guys is a bouncer who lives in a bedroom converted from a garage in back of his parents' house (documentary, long time ago so my memory is hazy). According to "The Millionaire Mind" most of today's decamillionaires couldn't compete with the future lawyers/doctors in their schools so they picked a different route to success.

Yep, I read about this guy in one of the muscle magazines. They said he had an IQ of 196. He lives in a tiny little cottage and works as a bouncer.

Just a middle manager too! Of course with my temper in college it's no wonder I didn't wind up in prison... Hi IQ doesn't always equal high-end jobs.. I never liked most people I was around in college (computer science nerds) and really never fit in that crowd.. Not sure why but I prefered to use my brain to get in and out of trouble! Had it tested 4 times, 1st time when I was 8 or something like that (don't know what it scored at then), they tried to put me in a "special" school for geniuses.. I was kicked out for getting into to many fights.
