What is a good career?

What do you guys think is a good career that makes atleast $100-150k a year after being well established with a company? I have to start thinking about what classes I want to pick for college and what I want as a career, but I am totally clueless. The only things I am good at is math and science. Phsyics, calculas, algebra, computer science, that kind of thing. I guess I am just good at problem solving. I am horrible in english and any "art" type class. I am okay at everything else just because I have a knack for remembering details and facts (I can match things in my head pretty easily, I just give every fact or detail a illustration in my mind. I don't remember the actual fact or detail, but I remember the illustration, which will help me just enough to remember what I need to know.) I have a 3.9GPA with max honor credits and a high ACT score so I can pretty much go for whatever I want (although I am planning to go to LSU, as I get a free scholarship if I go to a college or university in Louisiana and that's the only good school I know there.). Any help is appreciated, thanks!

You're clueless.

Unless you're talking $100-$150k 25 years down the line when you've been with the company 25 years and 3% yearly inflation is factored in.

That is why I said career, not job...

Holy Shit!! 100-150K?? Man, I am a graduate student and I am struggling to find work. I would be happy to find something around 30K if possible.

Bullshit. I made over $160K last year and I am not even 30. Since I didn't start my job until the end of March 2001, I missed out on 3 previous months. Hence, I will be making more this year. I hope to break the $200K ceiling this year.

This idiot is clearly not one of the people who's going to be making $150 grand out of college, and it's just better he realizes that now. Just like all these poor negro chilluns who think they can grow up and play ball.

I'm happy you feel that way, I made 50k when I was 14 by exploiting a money making scheme at which point I had over 40 people working under me. I currently make just under about 25k a year by working part time as a transcriptionist. If you don't know what that is, it means I sit on my ass at home typing recorded messages. I usually don't get upset, but when some someon decides to criticize my knowledge or experience in making money, it does irk me just a little bit. Just because you probably have never made more than 30k in a year in your life, does not I, or anyone else else for that matter, will live up to that.

Again, that is not true. From the time I was 22 until 26 (March 2001) I worked for Motorola in Atlanta as the HR Rep. My salary then was $65K. I started at $55K when I was 22. Motorola is not known for being generous with the $$$. This was a strictly 9-4PM job. Nowdays, I work about 7-8 days per month.

According to how this guy described himself, he is quite bright and would make a good engineer. If he wants to go in that field. Or he could become a commercial development planner. A very good friend of mine Terry Thompson in Atlanta had the basic college education and went into commercial planning. He until recently owned 27 malls in the South East, including Lenox Mall and the giant Mall of Georgia. He sold 11 malls and is now wrangling a deal to buy 11 miles of coastal property in Venice, Florida and develop it into a mini city with high rise condos, movie theaters, art galleries, malls and it's own 70 million dollar airport. Oh... and this is a guy that can barely tie his shoes. He - to this day - still does not have a computer of any kind installed in any of his offices. He relies on a papertrail and file cabinet to keep track of all his permits and grants. He started out with just a very basic education in college and graduated with a BA in business.

And BTW I make $75k at my job...at which I spend 25 hours a week.

No fucking art supply store pays that much. You were just graduating high school and starting college you moron.

And how do I know you didn't just make all that shit up to try to save some face after I smacked yo ass? :FRlol:

And BTW I make $75k at my job...at which I spend 25 hours a week.

My money making scheme was forming a guild on a popular online game a few years back. The people from the guild would collect items which I would sell on EBay. Because I was the leader of the guild I was never required to actually play more than 4 hours a week. I simply had maintain guild order, which I did by electing officials. I gave all true power to the officials who would create guild events to promote my status in the guild. I was the only one who had power over guild treasury therefor I was the only one that knew what went in or out. Some of the items I sold sold for as much as $2,000 on EBay. In a one year period, by "working" for as little as 6 hours a week, I made $50k. If you want more proof than just details, go look up "EBay scheme, Everquest, Rathe." I can't prove that I make 25k a year as a transcriptionist, but you can feel free to go look up transcriptionist sometime. You take a 6 hour class a week for 6 weeks then they help you find a job. Some people make up to $80k working full time.

I rest my case.

So what do you do you 7-8 days per month that gets you $160k? Something in the sex industry no doubt.

Wrong. If you had read some of the past threads where members described their jobs, you would know.

1) Who the fuck said I worked in an art supply store?!!?!?

2) No, I graduated college last DECEMBER.

I'm a database thingamajigger person in fact I don't even do much at all just act as database admin which usually entails fielding stupid questions several times per hour but the money is good.

So what is your job Oh Assplorer Of My Anus?

There is not a database admin out there that works "part time". And as far as fielding questions, you would never hear questions from anyone on the DB side. That is the help desk job. Even if you are using something as simple as MS Access.

LOL, I apologize for not reading these past threads, I am SO sorry thanks for putting me in my place!

So what do you do, or are you embarrassed to speak of it?

Don't you remember those days from your time as BO$ here?

Tell me about that DB admin job you have.

What DB are you using?

Are you using an ODBC?

What platform do you have it running on?

Type up a sample script.

Just what I thought. I am not an IT person, but even I know what those parameters would be for any database system.

I can tell you what brand of 409 we use though.

I am sure you can. Mainly because I am sure you have tried it as lube before.

Municipal Monkfish said:

Actually I have, it's pleasant to the discerning lover of dick lube, but you have to have it off in 5 min or else it starts to blister.

That ain't nothing. Wait til someone gets a hold of you that has dipped their anal beads in Tabsco sauce.
