What in the hell is wrong with car dealers?

If you know anything about sales you know that the price always starts high. That way when you negotiate and the price drops, the person feels like they are special. I got a great deal!!

The new mega car dealerships, like AutoMax, CarMax, etc... now have the price listed on the windshield. It is non negotiable. But they have the lowest prices

Those places are awful. Non-negotiable is the LAST thing that would attract me to a car dealership.

Example: When my dad and I were shopping for my Maxima, we went to a Maroone dealer (one of the huge ones with like 1000 square miles of lot, a big showroom, even a friggin capuccino machine). My dad looks at the sticker and then starts haggling with the dealer and the guy is like: "the price is non-negotiable." Oh that's fine. We took a test drive and left.

Went to one of the small Maroone dealers (i.e. couch with holes in it, no show room, need to move about 5 cars to get 1 out to test drive). Haggled... got the car with tinted windows, a free oil change, 2 free tanks of gas for over a thousand bucks less than at the big "non-negotiable best price" dealer.

Non-negotiable is to the DEALER'S advantage. Why would a business give the customer an advantage when they didn't have to?

Hey man you shoulda asked me about car dealers around our area..

My Dad owns an upholstery business in Chesapeake, and he is best friends with every new and used car dealer in the area.

I could tell you the best salesmen, and this guy who is basically my god father owns a lot in Huntington on 4th avenue...

Brothers Auto...he will not dick you over. he's a great guy
