I'm not sure if it will have any obvious effect. In a best case scenario, nothing much will happen. In a worst case scenario, he'll be a martyr because people will forget "how bad" they had it with him in power and rally to put someone like him back.

I do not think it is a maistake. I think it may spark more violence. The administration went to the middle east for specific reasons, despite the BS we were fed. That, however is moot. If anyone thinks we will ever be able to leave the middle east they are ignorant, naive or just plain stupid.
