What I crave right now.

OMGWTFBBQ

You probably thought this was going to be a thread about hot and sweaty man on man action, but you are so wrong.

I want about 15 taco supremes from Taco Hell, and then about 3lbs of gummy bears.

And some Coke.

I have the Coke right now, and I can find gummy bears here, but they are slightly hard to come by.

Taco Bell doesn't exist here and they are much better at Italian food here than they are at Mexican (as if Taco Bell is all that Mexican anyway).

Instead I'm going to have a hawaiian pizza for lunch and then pasta for dinner.

I took a shower after working out.

this morning I got up to find that our house has no water, even though it had just rained this morning.

Not sure when I will get a shower again - but I'm sure glad it is the weekend.

I washed my dick last night - with soap.

Bermuda sure is a zany place. In other words, it sounds all backwards and inconvenient. And you are like the star of a daily show, who enjoys awesome misadventures on a daily basis.

What kind of workouts are you doing now? I assume this involves running away from things that aren't chasing you? What kind of 5k or 10k shape are you in now? And what about at your best?

I go to a "gym" after work that is part of a snooty (and likely racist) club here that is members only and you have to have connections to be a member. I go because it is free to me.
The "gym" is really just a few rooms of mirrors, a few situp pads, a few of those Swedish balls, an ab roller thing, some TVs, a desk, a stereo, some of the shittiest circuit machines I have seen (although well maintained - or perhaps just rarely used), an exercise bike, two ellipticals, one stair master, and 3 treadmills. Oh, and some dumbbells that I think top out at 30lbs or so.

I run on the treadmill because it is dark in the morning here, and it is dark by the time I'm out of work and there aren't really sidewalks here except for in town.

I hate the treadmill soooo much. I would use an mp3 player, but I have a workout partner and don't want to tune him out.

I do running and then a circuit of weights - other days I do speedwork.
On the weekends I can run outside - Saturday do speedwork and drills and Sunday do a long run - will sometimes hop in with running groups for that.

I haven't run a race yet, so it is hard to say - I tend to perform better when I have competition.
If I had to guess, I'd say I'm in really shitty shape due to not enough speedwork, but I am noticing pretty good improvements.
If I had to do a single mile, I think I might be able to get under 6mins right now.
I think I can hold a 6:30 pace for a 10K.
Slightly faster for a 5K.

I haven't been training for running in a long time, so I'm very out of shape right now.
I think within a year I should be in top shape, barring any accidents.

My best 5K in high school was 15:50 and the only 10K I ran in high school was with my dad just to encourage him - it was mostly backwards that I ran so that I could taunt him and piss off everyone around him. No clue what that time was.

I didn't run that many 5Ks in college - come track season I was usually sick or had allergies now that I look back on it. I think I ran a few 5Ks around 15:50 and that was about it.
In a workout where the 5K was only a small part of it and we were just working on surges, I ran a 15:45.
In a 5 mile race I ran the first 5K in a 15:30 or so - but that was XC.

I haven't done the proper training when I ran in school - so I am hoping I can focus now and get the proper training done and get some better times.

My fastest mile is only 4:30 - but I'm pretty sure I can do a 4:20 or less with better training for it.
Goal 5K by next year is just a sub 15:30 unless there are people faster than me in the race.
Goal 10K is sub 32 since I haven't really run one for real (I ran one in track over spring break one year in college and the number of laps friend my brain).

Starting in a week or two I will get into speedwork for real again. Mile repeats, form drills, and tempo runs will be the bulk of it.
Some Cruz workouts would be nice too (run a football field with quick strides, then do push ups or sit ups or frog jumps or hill climbers, etc - then get up and run again, do that for 10 times back and forth, and then run an 800 on the track all out - and then repeat all of that 1-3 times).
(likely tempo on Tuesdays, cruises (which I hate) on thursdays, and then repeats on Saturdays - I might flip-flop the thurs and sats)

I was driving around town last night stylin and pimpin and I saw this person overtake me and pull in front on this vespa, immediately I thought about daddylonglegs but after some careful observation realized it was a rather ugly woman.

Moral of this story: You don't know what you're looking at until you see it naked.

Zippy dippy dang dang!

By racist do you mean anti black? Also, what is 5K and 10K? How many miles is that? I can do a 15 minute mile on the treadmill but I usually pass out afterwards. Do you use a spot with those 30 lb dumbells? So many questions so little time!

5K is 3.14 miles or something, and 10K is oddly enough twice that.

And no, I don't need a spot for 30lb dbs. but I do for the 5lbs.

Thanks for starting up my craving for some Taco Hell.

Gawd, I'm tempted to ditch the lunch I brought in for a Burrito Supreme and some Nachos Bellgrande!

How are you getting along without your Saab?

I'm just dandy without the safety-mobile.

I have a Vespa instead and it is cool enough for me. I need to take it in for service, and I'm hoping that is really expensive. I hate having money.

Well, if you hate having money, then I'll set up a paypal account so I can relieve you of that burden.

I have a vision of a 30 something, wearing sandals, bermuda shorts, a Hawaiian shirt, and some Maui Jims protecting the eyes, cursing the right handed drivers and he zips through traffic, chasing after Taco Bell nirvana.

LOL - I am 27 in early January, I don't own a Hawaiian shirt and I'm not even sure I have seen anyone here with one, but I have heard of a guy that owns a trading service here that is rich and wears one.
My sunglasses are just good ol' Oakleys, and I need a new pair.
I don't wear sandals - if I make it to the beach, I will try to wear flip flop things.

As for the rest, that is about right :)

The jealousy factor just went up a couple of notches.

You may not like the heat, but at least you don't have to put up with Massachussetts (sp) winters any more.

For that matter, Massachussetts.

What's the job market like in Bermuda?

You mean availability, or unemployment rate, or what markets?

They basically hate to bring in anyone that isn't from here. My fiancee is from here, so once married I will not have a problem with jobs here.

They look for skillsets that locals don't have. They make it really really really annoying for anyone to try to move/work here.

As a result, they prevent a lot of actual talent from coming in. Brilliant.

Do they have a chemical industry or any other type of industry?

Not really. There are some power plants for the island here and that is about it.

The bulk of the money generated for the island comes from international companies - mostly insurance - and then also tourism - which has been on a steep decline ever since the early nineties.
