What helps you push through pain?

I am wondering what techniques or mindsets you guys use to push through pain? I am currently doing training that builds up a lot of lactic acid and I need to find a way to push through it...
Thanks.

i just ignore pain, if im doing a set and its burning i keep going till failure... thats the best way to do it, till you cant do anymore

No pain, no gain. I don't feel I've gotten a good enough workout if I'm not at least sore or tight the next day.

I got one more year to reach my goals with my physique, I think about having the body Ive always wanted this summer...so Ive pushed my goals 6 months earlier. Thinking about all the hot chicks checkin you out always works.....whats life without women....well...hasslefree,but you get my drift...

well i got one more year till my football career is over at school and after that its over itll all be memories. Thats if theyre good memories (saying man im glad i worked that hard in school) or bad ones (man i wish i worked harder) thats up to me. but nobody will ever tell themselves that they were sorry for working too hard in the weight room. but when school is over ill have to put myself through a different mental state cuz i wont stop lifting!

yea thats what pushed me through my injury and my 4 week layoff from when i tore my achilles and fucked up my ankle...and it payed off i got Most Valuable Offensive Lineman in my state final game...(not to mention im a 165lb 5'8 Offensive Gaurd hehe)

But yea i for those last few reps i think to myself... if i dont do these...then wtf am i in the gym for...why do i bother to come? why did i pay the money for the membership...why will the girls look at me when theres a bigger/stronger guy over there?

just the stupid shit that helps psych you out...think of it...and you shall overcome the pain...

pain is temporary, chicks dig scars (that whole motto) =p :chomp: :chomp:

To get through lactic acid pain, I always find myself counting. I know that when I've counted to a certain number the pain will stop. I focus on the numbers and just keep counting. If it's going on so long that I'm getting near my target number I choose a new one after telling myself I was a wuss for choosing too low a number. Sometimes it doesn't work.

It always helps to have someone to beat, whether duration or reps.

Caffeine/strong coffee

It's proven that it works

There are several things that pushes me through a grueling workout. The biggest is obviously the burning desire to grow and i know without fighting through the pain i want reach my potential. Another is personal issues i have with a couple of guys who work out the same time i do. They're your typical "im the biggest(more like fattest) and strongest guys in the world" types who like to tell everyone else how they're doing something wrong. I dont think ive ever seen them sweat or ever do legs. I like to get crazy hype, which will push me through any pain imaginable, especially on leg day just to show the idiots how to work out. But i dont think i could get that mindset without my mp3 bumping some linkin park, jayz, and YB.

Mostly knowing that I can go somewhere most people at they gym cant, but lately it has to be my new hottie training partner, spotting me and encouraging me, and she does lift just as hard...
