Air bubbles in a vein killing you is greatly exagerated. You would need over 3cc of straight air to stop your heart. I have a link to medical facts if you want. [I'd have to find it]

As far as gear, I have no idea.

Thanks Mustang for resp. that's one quest that's been bugging me for a bit, but wastiing my gear I think I'd rather die
