What do you make of life?

IE, what type of mindset are you in regarding your direction in life? Do you try to ponder why you were put on this earth, or do you just say "fuck that" and go through the motions of life like a robot? Would you say that life is a destination-following a linear path where you always feel like you're on a leash, or an adventure-"I'm gonna do whatever the hell I want, and have fun doing it."

I'd like to think of it as an adventure, but that's hard to do when you're in college, and working to make ends meet.

I say an adventurous life is more of an attitude to just say fuck it, and not care what happens; you could lose everything tomorrow and it would be no big deal to you.

I think being in the mindest that you have to work to make ends meet kills the adventurous aspect of it all.

It's when you are a go-getter that is only going to do what makes you happy and is willing to put money second on their list that I think makes an adventure. Having this attitude also helps you maintain a positive outlook on things, and the money will eventually start to roll in when you aren't even thinking about it.
I say this would be the ideal life.

I'm cruising now, never had it so easy.

The last 12 years have taught me to be ruthlessly independent.

Looking back over the last 40+ years, life is pretty much what happened to me while I was looking for some kind of deep meaning. I've helped more than I've hurt - done things that seemed insignificant at the time but turned out to be life-changing - done things that seemed indescribable but turned out to be insignificant. All in all, not a bad history, not a bad life, quite a ride.

Life is a big shit sandwich and every day you take a bite....

right now....very stressed......teetering on th edge of going crazy and either becoming an total alcoholic, or actually turning everything around and working my ass off......it seems success always comes from hitting rock bottom first with me.

I'm simply trying to make as much money as possible so I can retire. After all...money CAN buy happiness. Anyone who says otherwise is fuckin' broke.

This is only half true at best. Look at Elvis: he had all the money in the world, yet do you think he was happy the last few years of his life?

Money only makes life easier.

He was also a rock star, that brings on all kinds of baggage. I woudn't be very happy with that much fame either. Now, his money + being unknown....Yeah, I'd be pretty damn happy.

My father had lots of money. Lots.

He used to always say that money doesn't buy happiness but it sure makes the bad times a lot better.

He was a pretty miserable human being most of the time that I can recall.

I'm pretty miserable too but broke.

Don't get me wrong though, I'm not unhappy at all right now. I just have a lot I want to accomplish in my life and it's gonna take a lot of money to follow through.

It used to bother me to have no meaning in life but eventually I got tired of dwelling on that and now try my best to go through the motions like a robot; hopefully like a happy robot. I'm also torn between 2 mentalities, the do what you want, chill and be happy mentality vs. work hard, achieve, be successful, make money mentality. Hopefully I'll be able to pick a side within the next few yrs (college) and be content with it.
