What do you guys take PostWorkout?

Pure Dextrose? Glucose? Candy? What is best for post workout? A roll of smarties has 6g of dextrose, and a tab of glucose has 4g of carbs. What would be better, the candy the glucose or ordering some dextrose online? Thanks
 
I take 10 iu`s slin, and about 75 grams of carbs in a drink mixed with creatine and glutamine. This has been the best I have found for myself.

Carbo Force mixed with 40gms isolate on the way home from the gym, and 8oz. red meat 1 1/2 brown rice and 1 1/2 brocolli when I walk in the door...

pure dextrose aka corn sugar from a local homebrew supply store
 
surge (biotest):
Glucose: 49grams
Whey Hyrdos: 25grams

one scoop GNC PP Whey: 20grams
15 grams creatine/15 grams glutamine
ala/r-ala

may as well eat smarties then chase it with a few scoops of whey. they taste good. :D

Thanks, I was just curious if smarties were good enough for post workout, how much do you suggest post workout? 75 grams seems to be what everyone says. Thats alot of rolls of smarties!

yeah i'm cutting now, hence the 50grams glucose. usually i take 75grams glucose post........then another 100 grams 2 hours later in the form of maltodextrin ("complex" carb). so yeah, 50-75 is good.

Ok, well I will be bulking so the smarties should work just fine. Thanks for your input.

yeah, i meant only 50 grams vrs usual 75 grams was because of cutting. nothing to do with type of carb.

My mistake, i mis-read your original post.

LOL, 75 grams of dextrose would be a sh*tload of smarties!!! That's 15 rolls.

surge is the only supp i know of (there are cheaper knock offs) that has glucose. everyone says glucose=dextrose. but i'll stick with my glucose. also has whey hydro's in it....fastest acting whey there is. you can double dose it and get 100 grams of glucose or adjust accordingly.

hah. its expensive as hell. biotests website has it buy two get one free sometimes. but i get it at my work for half price or less. so i use it, otherwise its pricey. someone make a real cheap rip-off of it. one of the big protein internet places. not sure which one.

only prob with that is i expect more ALA for my money. they charge a lot....and they do give you a whopping dose of sugar as well as 10 grams of creatine.....but last time i looked at the formula there was 200mg of ALA. not enough. i think it should be 500mg or more. unless they dropped the ala, haven't looked at the formula lately.
 
Surge the soda, does that work too?

Also someone mentioned table sugar, is that just as good? I thought table sugar was different then dextrose. Sorry, I am not a sugar master.:bawling:
 
Ok, last time here brother. I need to explain a few things to you first. I have seen you ask this question about a million different ways, so I will say DO A SEARCH on Dextrose etc. I am not trying to flame you but you have MODS and experience members telling you what to do, then you come back with something like Surge soda? You got to be kidding...


Now that being said, PLEASE provide your stats.

Also, what you need post workout AT A MIN is Dextrose (75grams of carbs or more), creatine, protien (40g min), glutamine and I would suggest r-ALA.

Really, do the reasearch on this. You need Dextrose (glucose) postworkout to refill your glycogen stores. If you take it with the creatine and protien and r-ala, you will have almost everything pushed into your muscle cells.

I have told you where to buy this stuff online, and know you are sitting here asking about Surge soda. Really bro, if you dont want to trust anyones advice, why even ask the question.

AS an FYI I take:

125grams of carbs from Pure Dextrose
10 grams glutamine
10 grams creatine
40 grams of protien (whey isolate)
300mg r-ALA

Then followed 1 hour later by a full meal.

Thank you kronk, I was just asking about Surge and the table sugar because two other people mentioned it in the thread. I do plan on buying some dextrose online, I just have one question for you. How long does an 11lb bucket last and what is the serving size?

11lbs last a while, I share mine with my wife and it last about 2 months I think. A serving size is 3/4 cup and it is 75 grams of carbs. Peace.
