What do straight leg deadlifts work?

Forgive my ignorance, but I want to make sure I'm feeling them where I'm supposed to. Hamstrings, lower back, and traps. I don't understand how they are working the traps though. Is it from when you straighten up with the wegight. I don't feel it as I'm doing it, but I do feel it the next day.

yup, hams and lower back primarily. Traps can get hit with the pull, and/or static contraction if you're locking out. Try doing them off a block when you can.

Stiff-legged Deadlifts work the rear chain (erectors, glutes/hips, hamstrings & even the calves) very well. Specifically they hit the hamstrings very hard because of the pronounced stretch at the bottom of the movement.

If your gym doesnt have a platform to stand on you can alter the range of motion using different plates. For example if your shorter try putting on a couple 25's instead of a 45 and you got a longer range, if you want to make the range shorter put on the 45's and then rest the bar on top of another 45(the hole in the middle is a nice spot to rest it). Just thought that might help because I see a lot of guys doing heavy or partial stiff legs and not really acomplishing much(not to mention their terrible form).
