My brother wants a computer for Christmas. im basically looking for a new desktop for him. Im thinkin either a Gateway or a Dell. What model do you have and how is the customer service? Thanks.

I hae Gateway. I would`nt know what to do without the tech support. I think I have lifetime support. Not sure If they stilll offer that. I`ve had the computer for 5 years already.

Stay away from Gateway, they sell shit. Very crappy parts and pretty outdated compared to new Dell's.

Dell's are very reliable and cheap.
I recommend Dell's to business clients, family and friends. Their customer support is great.

except Dell uses propietary MB and PSU connectors. In fact, if later you wanted to upgrade the MB - you would have to change the PSU as well. And vice versa, if you wanted to change the PSU - you'd have to change the MB. Dell changed it's connectors in order to generate a profitable aftermarket market... of course you pay a premium to by a Dell MB or PSU...

Get a Dell.. i have the dimension desktop and works great for me.. go to fatwallet.com and there are always deals/rebates on Dells

except dell uses propietary MB and PSU connectors etc etc etc

buy the bits from newegg and make it yerself.

I have a question about DELL, Do they propietary MB and PSU connetcors?

If you want basic and already have a monitor, Dell has a desktop
with 2.x Gb Celeron Proc, 512 ram, CD, wireless KB and Optical mouse for like $400

Dells are good as you dont' plan to upgrade parts much. Only geeks do anyway.
