What can I replace shortening with when making brownies

Applesauce! Most definately! It comes out just as moist as when using butter or oil! Good luck!
 
Use unsalted butter instead of Crisco... makes it a little more "mushy", but I like the taste much better.
 
my cooking/baking skills are so advanced that something as elementary as brownies throw me for a curve. amateurs
 
Olive Oil could possibly be used...as wierd as that sounds, a lot of Italian baked goods use olive oil.

I've used applesuace before, but never prune
