What can I expect in finding/starting a PT job?

Just got my certification and am now starting to look for a PT job. What can i expect it to be like? What's the usual pay like? Do you usually have to do other stuff besides PT?

Thanks!

Don,

It all depend on what part of the country you are from. Generally, if you are an employee of a club, expect them to pay you 50% or less of the training session. Most clubs in California charge 50 - 75 per session. You would get roughly half. The longer you work for the club, the more money you can make. You will also probably be asked to "work the floor", physical test, and do initial workouts to those who join the club. This is all done outside of your personal training time. However, it is a GREAT time to market yourself, and build a loyal following.

Good Luck!

P.S. I started 16 years ago making $12 per session. Now I make over $100 per session. You have to start somewhere, and build your way up.

Don,
One of the first things you should consider is what type of Personal Training setting you'd be happiest in. I've found that most Personal Trainers begin their careers in either a health club or small Personal Training studio.

There are several differences to beginning your career in one versus the other. If I were you, I would look to interview in each type of setting so you can "get a closer look" and ask the questions you need to of your interviewer and other employees.

If you have other specific questions, I'd be happy to help. You can contact me through http://www.my-personal-trainer-school.com

Great luck,
Boh
