What Belt to Get?

I am about to order an Inzer Double Buckle Belt but am unsure as to whether to get the 10mm or 13mm.. Just fishin for suggestions here from some of my belt clad bretherin.....

And hey, Karma to all who toss in their opinion..

Thanks

If you plan on having it for awhile get the 13mm it will be stiff for awhile, and get a seamless roller, that's a must, otherwise it'll come apart and tear up the belt.peace.

A seamless roller is that little roller thing on the buckle, that when you tighten your belt it rolls instead of your belt rubbing on the buckle itself. Oh and a double buckle ( with the two prongs) is a pain in the ass to line up when your belt is really tight and your amped up.

Thanks DB..And i was right...Feel like my IQ dropped 50 points..LOL... But thanks for the info.. I my opt for the single prong instead...

And Deceiver, I considered the Lever but I like my belt at differnt tightness levels for Squat and Deads and also tigher on heaver lifts.. So the Lever would kinda be a serious hastle for me...

JD-

I would definately look into the lever belt. The lever has 2 prongs, and the belt has 2 holes. you can offset the prongs and set the belt a little looser. I assure you in my opinion this is the way to go! If you do go with the buckle belt, think about getting the single prong belt. Trying to fight both prongs in and out after attempts is a bitch.

The lever belts are nice, but they're a pain in the but to adjust if you had a need to do so.

I've got an Inzer 13mm double prong, and it's great. The double prongs can be a pain, like VDOP said, but I've gotten the hang of it, and it's not too tough, except when I'm wearing a bench shirt.

My take on this is that the Double Prong is the best bet overall. Each design however, has its pros and cons.

Between the single prong and the double prong. The single is the easiest to use, obviously. However with it comes a greater chance that it might come undone in some freak occurance. The double is more secure obviously, but a little difficult to get off after a lift.

The lever is the best IF you can get it set right. The problem that most have is that their waist circumference will vary greatly from day to day..due to water weight. This is especially true of heavier lifters. So for that fact it is more difficult to get it adjusted consistantly.

Project, would you go with a Single prong over your Double if you were to get a new belt?

I dunno, I was talking to Hannibal about this tonight, and he said really, the advantage to the double prong is that it's more secure. He's seen single prong belts come off in strongman comps, but that's a little different than using it in the gym.

Personally, I'd stick with the double, because it's what I know, and I really like my belt.

That said...I'd see if someone posts that's used both Inzers, and see what they say. I'm just a newbie at all this. :)

I would get the thicker belt, myself. Double prong is probably fine, and may be the best bet. Easier to adjust. I use a lever belt, but it is a pain to adjust when my mono ab gets out of hand.

I like it cause it is real easy to get into, and very easy for me to adjust by myself. I typically will not cinch it down till right before I lay down on the bench, or get under the squat bar. I like to have all the air possible for as long as I can get it.

To me this is worth the trade off of not being able to adjust with ease.

i have used all 3 types...

level is really cool but i've had it blow apart on a deadlift. maybe it was a freak occurence but it is also a pain if you deadlift and squat require different tightness. also, if you tend to chuck your belt across the room when you miss a lift (i do this), the lever breaks easily.

double prong.... this is a fucking pain in the ass if you like your belt tight. you will spend a lot of time trying to get BOTH prongs in, wheezing and turning beet-red the whole time. then again, i last used this when i was a 308+. maybe it wouldnt be so bad anymore.

so i cast my vote for a single prong.

and get the maximum allowed thickness (13)

Well as always all you guy came through with a wealth of much appreciated information... And it basically sounds like it comes down to a matter of trial and error to see what suits each individual lifters needs... So 13mm it is.. For me the lever would be really inconvenient since I go tighter as the bar weight gets heavier.. Plus I remembered Irish mention the exploding belt somewhere a while back.. As far as single or Double, well it appears as though I would be fine with either.. The decade old belt I had been using is a Double Prong with only mild difficulties getting it real tight.. But whichever i do order I can always return it and exchange it easily enough....

Forgot to mention this, but Hannibal showed me a trick for getting the double prong tight enough.

Basically, you put the belt on, get the end through the buckle, then kind of wrap the end around the post of the power rack. Then you can lean back, push the buckle in, and cinch it down tight.

I've had 5 hours of sleep, so if that doesn't make sense, forgive me.
