What are you supposed to be?

Anyone going to a Halloween party this year where you dress in costume? Any original costume ideas?

I went to a Halloween party last year and just wore regular clothes. People kept asking what I was "supposed" to be. (Gotta love that *supposed to*). I said that I was dressed up as a misanthrope. Well. . . I thought it was funny at the time and I saved some $ and still had a great time.

Some people really get into dressing up in a big way, making custom costumes or spending money renting something. An artist friend of mine is doing an elaborate handmade outfit based on some gothic doll series that can be purchased online. I like Halloween but not quite that much!

I bought a new costume this year but have made many in the past.

One year we (hubby and I) went as a brick chimney and a brick LAYER <G>. I got a box and covered it with contact paper in a brick design and wore the box over my body...he wore old clothes (overalls and a plaid shirt I think) and carried around a used trowel.

We also went as Mr. & Mrs. Pepe LePue (we were skunks but we didn't stink). We wore black sweats, had a white chest cut out of felt, a white streak sprayed in our hair and a black tail with a white stripe down the middle I picked up cheap at a card shop.

You can always go venture into Salvation Army to find some good stuff cheap.

Hippie stuff is always fun too...and you might actually wear that stuff after Halloween!

I am not going to a party, but I will be going out with my family. I thought about going as a Hooters girl from a gal who posted her idea here, but because I'll have my kids with me and I will be walking throughout our suburban neighborhood I think I'll go mild.

I am dressing up in a 1950s costume with most stuff I picked up from a thrift store. I'd rather spend more time creating rather than spending lots of $$$.
