West Caribbean Cruise

Why go there? I'd want to hit a place where the path is less taken....Too may people in the Carib for my liking!

Hubby and I are going to Costa Rica in Feb. I can hardly wait!

Enjoy your trip!

RC is very good. Kid going ?

Nope...that is why I only want to do 5 nights....I don't know if I could go any longer while she is still young.

Vix....I have never been on a cruise....so anything is new for me.

Don't all of these ships have a gym?

FZ...I haven't done cardio in a year......I don't believe in it anymore.

R.C.'s "xxxx of the Seas" class of ships are HUGE..

Ice rinks, rock climbing walls, and YES Gyms...
Cardio is a must because you will be eating and eating and eating
and when you get full you can eat some more...

We liked to Walk/Run on the tracks up on the top decks circling the ship each morning as the sun comes up...

Cruising is Sweet! No worries, no driving, no taxies, no deciding which resturant to eat in..

When you want to take your daughter, I highly recommend Disney Cruise line as the Kids programs they offer.
They have a both 7 day Eastern or Western carrib cruise

Make sure that Kill Bill is playing while your on the ship. That's all I know right now.

Yeah....the cruise I have picked out now is the Enchantment of the Seas. I'm just deciding what type of room to book.

I have a Disney catalog here now.....but I think my wife and I just need to get away.

Try to go on RC's Voyager of the Seas. Great ship.

I heard that.....it is the new one, right? With the ice rink and rock climbing wall? The only thing is that it only does 7 day cruises.

The higher you are on the boat, the bigger your room and the better the treatment. And probably the less likely you are to die in a tragic Caribbean iceberg wreck.

I hated the cruise I went on, and I can't stand the cruise people that come here.

Have fun with it - post up some pics of your wife.

That's the ship. It's a couple years old now. I think I went 2 years ago. It was a 7 day trip though.

We were thininking about Bermuda....but decided against it because of you.

GOOD
I'm not sure, but I think the cruise season here ends soon.

If you ever do come here, let me know so that I can swim far far away.

I have to poop.

The only difference in rooms is the size and cost.
I have had both cheap inside lower cabin and expensive 2 room cabins with balcony, and the room stewards did the same service for both.

I tell people that you will be spending very little time in your cabin,
so unless you are claustro and need a window, go with the cheapest low inside cabin you can find.

The low center cabins also have less motion and rocking.

Bancon are nice if you want privacy, but we spent most of our time on deck if not Showering,Changing, Sleeping or Fornicating

I like the idea of a balcony...but I hear automatic upgrades are common......I'd like to fornicate on the balcony.

Are you married? I've never seen a pic of your wife.

Seriously....if I came to Bermuda, I wouldn't want to meet you. But every pasty looking American I seen I would ask if they could direct me to a sink to shit in.

Before you balcoforno, check how well you can see other people's
balcony's by looking at lower decks to the left or right of yours.
Unless Mrs BB is into public displays..

Yes, Married 15 years, and No, I don't post pics of her out of fear of getting :p comments like you get about yours.

Public display could be cool.

What kind of comments? Did i get some bad ones?

When I see the ships that come into the harbor here that have the balconies, I call them the projects.

Everyone has their shirts hanging over the rails and they are all leaning out yelling at each other.

Reminds me of housing projects - just floating instead.

Dude...don't rain on my parade. Dickwad.

I can see beastboy coming off the ship back through customes living out the fight club dildo seen. And when the clerk says "A didlo", Mrs. Beastboy will chime in "No its mine and God I hope the batteries are still good, we've got a long flight and I need a good poney ride, if ya know what I mean..."

This is REALLY good advice. Spend the extra money and get a nice room towards the front of the boat with a balcony. The room service is much nicer and you will sleep much better as you won't have to hear the constant drone of the engine while fighting clausterphobia all night. Also towards the end of the cruise it will be nice to be able to sit out on the balcony at night with your wife ALONE cause you will be around people all day.

Also from my experience believe it or not the canadians are going to be the coolest people on the boat.

I'm going on January on the Explorer of the Seas...Western Caribbeans...I'm counting the days..:)

Drone of the Engines ?
What ship is that from, 1977 ?

BB, if you can afford to spend double for a balcony cabin, go for it.. I've done both and found lower cabins to be the same service level but a bit cramped for a family and also no windows.

Personally I can but choose to spend it on other more important things like booze or jewelery..

I'm getting ready to hopefully book one within the next week or so. Thinking we will go with Royal Caribbean.

Any input?

One of the best choices....I used to cruise the Caribbean for a few years and it is all worthwhile....

The best ratio money/comfort/entertainment/services is with Carnival Cruise Lines....Royal is not bad too.

Go for a 7 days cruise and make sure you chose on with at least five islands.

I am still longing for those ol good times....awesome memories...

Actually BB, If I were you, I'd look thru this thread and single out those of us that recommended you NOT buy a FORD,
and then take their advice on this..

lol, actually it was the newest ship in the carnival fleet but i'm pretty sure we had the worst room on the boat, but that's what happens when your a poor college student. :) my bud and his girl had a top floor balcony cabin...very nice.

Oh yea, the outer cabin themselves are way nicer.
I meant the service you get is the same even in the cheapest ones..

Most lines put stowage or the crew quarters on the ships lower rear for this reason.

Where do most of you go through to book it? A travel agent? Online? If so, what sites?

For the cruise we went through my friend's company because she got a discount. Usually I book through AAA or another travel agent. If it's just hotel and flight I do it myself online.

They can answer any OTHER questions you may have.

Online site I use to look at whats available.

I don't know what to do....I'm hearing that RC is boring compared to Carnival.

I was quoted abot $2200 for 5 nights to the W. Carb. that was for a Oceanview Room and airfare. (This was through RC)

I would go with the party ships (ie: Fantasy, Facination, Imagination, Holiday, ect) The Royal Ships are cool, but sometimes feature an over abundance of old folks.

Kill bill will not be playing on the ships. It is too brutal of a movie for the "family". It is not a family type of movie and that is what they show. Usually it is two movies that air over and over the whole time you are on the ship. But who care about movies when you are on a cruise! You are never in your room! :D

2200??!! WTF? I took a four day cruise on the Fantasy for Four days and only spend $179!

If you knew what was best you would save the money and hassle of using a travel company, and look online (travelocity, orbitz, bestcruises.com, ect.) You can find really good deals, and save alot of money. And yes, The Carnival Party ships are very, very fun compared to Royal Carribbean.

oops I meant to say that I took a four day cruise on the Fantasy to Bahamas and only spent $179 ! But it was an inside room. I dont understand why people need balconies on a cruise, all I needed was a place to sleep (when I did sleep), a place to change clothes and take a shower and then I was out. I might have stopped by my room a couple of times to get some alcohol (I just bought my own bottles on the ship because I did'nt want to rack up the charges buying the expensive alcohol on the ship).

We were told not to bring any alcohol or drinks on board our Carnival cruise,
they would be confiscated.

Yea and if you do buy stuff onboard, generally they keep it till the last day..
Every line has different rules but most dont want you bringing stuff onboard for obvious $ reasons.

I heard it is easier to smuggle it in your luggage when you first board the ship, rather than at the ports.

There's plenty to do on an RC cruise and you can get off the ship at each port and do stuff on land. I'd take luxury over party-cruise any day. I had an oceanview room with a balcony. Didn't spend much time in the room, but I would have felt claustrophobic without a window. It's nice to sit on the balcony early in the morning or late at night, especially if you get sick of people. RC has awesome food in the main dining area and also has a several restaurants on the ship that are inlcuded in the cost.

Of course they are going to tell you that, because they want you to spend money on their alcohol. But they dont go through your bags when you first get on. And when we got off the ship in the Bahamas, we bought up the liquor store and they allowed us to bring it back on the ship as long as it was checked by customs.

my experience was a bit different. i don't know if it was because we had super shitty rooms or what but our menu was smaller and the service was a lot slower in our room than on the balcony.

haha, we were told that too and had no problem bringing booze on. in my bag alone were 5 bottles of crown 2 bottles of smirnoff and a bottle of bombay. it was searched but they put a red tag on it that said "alcohol" and that was it. i couldn't believe it made it through.
