Were These Cops Sending the Wrong Message or What?

curling

New member
We were doing our late night mid week sport bike ride last week and my daughter was with me. The dudes in front started hauling ass around 130 and and we me and my daughter and a few other dudes were doing about 105. Well I look ahead and sure enough two cops are chasing the lead guys we keep going about a mile watching them and two more cops join in the chase. So we decided to pull over and go to a convenience store to chill with about 8 or 9 other riders.

Well this dude that was with us but following in his car pulls up behind this mustang and starts cussing him out. Turns out that he said the dude in the mustang almost hit 3 or 4 of us with some bad driving. So our friend calls the cops on him. Next thing we know two cops are showing up to question the dude in the mustang. Not 5 minutes here comes 6 or 7 more cop cars hauling ass into the parking lot. And this mean older cop gets out and says who were those three guys that ran?

We say we don't know we are just sitting in the parking lot. Then he says alright then ya'll are going to all get tickets to send a message to your friends that ran. Get out your licenses now. Wth(what the hell) I wanted to say what kind of message are you sending dudes run and get away and we don't run and we get tickets what do you think we are going to do next time? I didn't say it because the cops were in the pissy throw your ass in jail mood so I gave them my license and so did everybody else.

Well sure enough 3 dudes had warrants so the cop said get a wrecker we got boys going to jail. Two guys didn't have license so their bikes got towed and got tickets. Some dude in the parking lot on a harley just getting gas got checked and he had a warrant so he went to jail. I got a ticket for my license tag being expired in May.

I have never seen a bigger misuse of authority in a long time. I mean we weren't doing shit we were just in a parking lot. The cop when he saw my age first looked at me like are you crazy riding with these young punks and then said if I was y'all me and the other older dude, " I would find those dudes that ran and kick their ass" . This cop was actually telling us to assault someone because his piece of shit car isn't fast enough to catch them.

What a night. I mean did they not break some kind of right for them asking for our licenses while we were just sitting in a parking lot? I mean what about the dude on the hawg?

The cop didn't see us speeding remember. And 105 aint' shit. The world comes alive at a 100 you know. We were on a sport bike dude they are made and built to handle speed.

You were doing 105 mph with your daughter on your bike?
If she is young they could have called child protection services and taken her from your home and put her in foster care.
I'm all for having fun... but... look at the laundry list of illegal activities that were caught. If you did nothing wrong you can beat the ticket in court. Its that easy. I have done it myself.
Who is dumb enough to be out driving with a warrant?

So you were only going 105mph on the freeway and then decided to call the cops on a car that was driving badly?!?

Why call the cops when you know all of you could be hit with reckless driving (for going over 100mph), not to mention riding in the same group with the guys that are running?

You buddy in the car was the dumass. He should have never called the cops. If the idiot in the Mustang actually caused an accident, then you call them...otherwise, what were you going to tell them? This asshole in the 'Stang "almost" caused an accident, please lock him up?

Cops are cops. They don't like street bikers. You know that. You all should have been gone before they got there...but honestly, they should never have been called in the 1st place.

That's what we get for picking a specific personallity type for law enforcement.

I did a year of law enforcement at a college in Canada and the attitudes and offhand comments I heard disgusted me to the point where I decided I don't want to do this. I can't believe that these are the people we're giving guns and asking to protect us in the name of justice....yeah right.

To be fair there was a few fellows who were IMHO "just right for the job". Great guys who were just the kind of guy you'd hand a gun and say "cover my family's back, ok?".

Unfortuneatly the majority were less than desirable (likely including myself).

So your story didn't surprise me a bit.

That cop needed an attitude adjustment!

Tell me how those sport bikes are built to handle the back of a car at 105. I'm betting not good.

Curling Bro, I have a sport car and I live in Germany, you know what that means. When I am alone, I am all balls to the walls in that car... when I am with my family, or abnybody else, I never go over 100mph... and that is a CAR with airbags and shit... think twice man.

Hey, I didn't call them the dude in the car did. He shouldn't have you are right. Matter of fact, he feels terrible watching all of his friends go to jail and get tickets.

You are right. My daughter even said lets go dad and I though why what could they do to us we are just in a parking lot and this is a America. I don't feel that way any more.

Point or not, why on earth would you ride 105mph with your daughter. Your families more precious than the fact you think your bike was "built to handle speed"... maybe I should PM you some pictures of road rash, you'll think twice before being that selfish.

This is fun. (well you asked)
wow 18...well i thought maybe she was a bit younger than that.....its all fun and games tii someone gets hurt......

The mistake was calling the cops in the first place. Most cops are faggot nazis on a power trip, gotta expect them to act that way. In that situation getting the police involved could only complicate matters.

Lol

u were wrong but no biggie... everytime i ride i deserve to go to jail

(yep i am a piece of shit)

yo i got a great video of a gsxr out running a cop and doing freeway wheelies gimmie a few minutes

people, the pointe was not that he was riding with his daughter, but what the cops did

Thank you. You have to realize foreigngirl most people here don't ride and they don't understand that 105 isn't that fast on a sportbike. And that if you wreck doing 70 or 105 it is going to hurt pretty much the same.

What I didn't tell them is one of the dudes that ran had 18 year old girl on the back doing 180 running from the cops. As wild as I am I don't think that was smart. It is one thing taking a risk with your own life running but not with someone on the back.

Is there a difference between a crash at 105 vs. 180? I'm actually interested to know.

Oh yea, you would probably live at 105 if you are wearing the proper equipment doubtful at 180. . And really the two comparisons are totally different. And at 180 you are going at balls to the wall top end of the bike. That would be like you doing 80 in car or 120(if 120 being the top end) in a car if that makes sense. Also we weren't running. When you are running from the cops you take more chances ie. going through the middle lanes of cars, riding on the shoulder or running through cop car road blocks.

Curling....in cali 105mph is an automatic misdemeanor and a bookable/towable offense... 1. you were with a group of guys who were in the comimission of a misdemeanor at least, "evading" in cali is now a felony no matter what speed-most likely wreckless driving also, etc. etc..2. a phone call was made to police- this gives them automatic "Carte-Blanc" to be where you are, cause caller (eyewitness) put you with the rest of the riders...3. Cops were frustrated with the whole scenerio- you and your friends were on the recieving end...the whole thing sucks, but when you invlove the COPS for ANYTHING- it can go to shit quickly....if cops are called- go home or away from the activity immeditately...and bro- spare your daughter ok???, theres only 1 of her...please.

It is a felony here too. But the cops don't know for sure if we were with the bunch that ran. Secondly they don't know we were doing 105 remember they took off after the guys doing 130. And you know well as I do 105 isn't that fast on a sportbike and I also have two daughters. They both like going fast. Matter of fact I don't even want to tell you how fast I have taken them on a country road.

I just want to make sure I have this right:
1. You were doing 105 mph with your daughter on a public highway.
2. Two guys you are with run from the cops.
3. One guy that you were with (also doing 105-130mph) has the stones to cuss at someone else for “bad driving”. And then this same genius has the nerve to call the police after just breaking several laws himself?
4. Then you lie to the police (setting a great example for your kid) about who you were riding with and what you were doing.
5. At this point the cop can’t give you a ticket, but he can run everyone’s drivers license. When he does he finds that you are with 3 guys that have warrants for GOD knows what, 2 guys that don’t even have a license and you got a ticket for because you can’t keep up with your tags.

So if all this is right and I assume it is, it’s just a summarization of what you wrote, I have some questions. It’s seems as though you are going to continue this insane wheelie and speeding thing, but for how long? Who has to die before you realize how stupid it is? I just hope some nice family member in a car doesn’t have to die because you think its fun to do this dumb crap. What kind of people are you hanging out with and taking your children around that half of them have warrants, no licenses at all or run from the cops? Lie to the police, smart, real smart. NEVER talk to the cops, especially when you’ve done something wrong (and yes, 105-130mph in open traffic is wrong). You wanted a special license to do wheelies, hell you can’t even keep up with the tags! The worst part is that you REALLY believe that the cops were just busting your balls. I just don't understand you. I'm trying to, but I can't see it.

None of that matters because he was on a sport bike. A SPORT BIKE! Laws do not apply, nor does reason.

BTW, curling, you say if you hit something at 105, you would probably be fine if you were wearing the proper gear. Was your daughter wearing full riding leathers and everything? If so, post pics.

I didn't lie. I just didn't nark out the people that ran. I guess you were one of the little squealers in jr high huh? As far as the tags you got to remember all the things I went through lated a house fire and all and I was only 20 days late. What do you walk around your car all the time and make sure you are totolly legal? Once again they didn't know we were speeding.

Ish, she was wearing proper gear and NO I am not going to be posting any pics of her.

Wodin, all I have to do is get it renewed and I will get the charge dismissed. :D

I guess none of the rest of you have ever done anything illegal eh? No speeding in your car ever eh? Interesting. Wait, what site are we on right now? Oh, one dedicated to fitness with a huge emphasis on steroids???? But you are right, speeding and expired tags never happens in cars, so Curling probably should have been shot on site for such a horrible act. Why is it that all you cagers have a such a problem with us cyclists? Are you all just pissed because your wives won't let you have one? If you were a rider then you would understand Curling a bit more. It becomes a lifestyle and sometimes you push the limits to get more out of it. Sort of like bodybuilding. It becomes a lifestyle and you can't get enough. Soon you start to push the limits and eventually you plateau. So you look for ways to get more out of it. For bodybuilders it's juice, for bikers its speed, or stunting, or grinding a knee around a tight corner. So don't kid yourselves, we all have our little vices and just because your's is different from his doesn't give you the right to talk shit.

Because, they all punish my body, they put no one else in danger physically. When you are driving 100MPH on a highway and you hit a broken piece of pavement, or maybe a 2x4 that fell off a truck, you and your bike become a projectile that directly endangers others. Get off your "I'm just a misunderstood biker kick", it don't play with me.

What about when you have a roid rage from some bad tren or something. Or when your family has to take care of ya because you have screwed up you liver due to booz'n

And btw hitting any of that crap you mentioned at 70 is no different you do realize that don't ya?

Man, you're not getting much sympathy here are you?
I think everyone is upset by 2 things:
1. Your daughter. To most people that's crazy. If I want to endanger myself, fine. But I'll try to convince her not to, so I won't participate in something that will endanger her. (BTW, I have a 19 Y.O. daughter).
2. The bike thing. While I would love to have the disposable income to ride, my situation in life determines that I don't. So sometimes (OK always) I get pissed at riders that don't stay with traffic, ride down shoulders, ride down the lines between lanes & generally make people nervous. My wife is a new driver & bikes terrify her. Not bikers, but she is afraid that if somehow she hits one, it's gonna be bad. We've had 2 fatalities in the region in the last 2 months, speeding bikes hitting cars, peeps in the cars dying.

First off, his daughter is 18. She can make her own decisions and decide what is right or wrong for her. If she wasn't doing 105mph with daddy, she might be jumping on with some 18 year old punk who just bought his bike last week. My daughter is 6 and I tool around the cauldesack with her on the back all the time. Once she gains a few pounds and an inch or two in height, I will let her ride with me on the surface streets. Once she is 12 or 13 or so, I will let her ride with me on the feeways and such. Have you ever had a family member in your car with you while you were driving? Did you ever exceed the speed limit while they were with you? If so, then you have no valid arguement there. Even 60mph in a 55mph zone is illegal and considered "unsafe" and a possible danger to others.

Your next reply will probably be something like "You can't compare to cars to motorcycles. Motorcycle are way more dangerous." This is also not the case. Motorcycles are not dangerous at all. Riders may be though. However, I see way more idiots driving in cars than I do bikes. Personally, I am 10X a better driver when on the bike than in the car. On the bike there are no distactions. No cell phones to fumble, no radios to fuck with, no ability to eat food while driving, etc. I am 110% in focus with driving and nothing more. In a car, you can just sit back and glide along, half asleep and not worry. On a bike, you have no choice but to remain focussed or you fall over.

On an empty highway it is crap, even running with other cars and bikes that are all doing 100mph it is crap...but when you are going 100+ on a public highway and everyone else is going 65, then triple digits becomes a safety issue. A big one. At night you can triple the potential danger. And I ride.

This wasn't a highway it was freeway. And at 11:00 pm there are hardly any cars on it. That is why we choose to ride so late.

There is a difference between a collision at 5MPH relative than one at 30MPH relative, which is what a rear end collision between two objects traveling in the same direction is. That is why there is weight placed upon amount over speed limit you are traveling in fines and in level of offense. No matter how fast your reaction time, avoidance of road hazards is much harder at 100MPH than 70MPH. Drag forces from the air also multiply at higher velocities making for more dangerous situation.

Get your adrenaline rush anyway you want, just realize you aren't going to get sympathy from the family of four in the minivan next to you when your weaving in and out.

So don't kid yourselves, we all have our little vices and just because your's is different from his doesn't give you the right to talk shit.

you retarded!

now we have cyclist envy? how fucking retarded are you?

and by someone juicing involves you how?

I'll call this one 'Hillbilly Physics'.

I would have to argue the difference betewen 70 and 100 MPH from a reaction standpoint. I would equate this 30 MPH difference in time to a ball bat hitting you in the head at 30 MPH while your standing still.

How quick can you duck?

This wasn't a highway it was freeway. And at 11:00 pm there are hardly any cars on it. That is why we choose to ride so late.
you might as well try to argue about pitbulls with these people. some get ,most dont and you will never convince them.

Ok, tell me what the difference between hitting a immoveable wall at 30MPH and hitting a wall that is travelling at 30MPH less than you is.

Use Leibnitz's notation, and define all terms.

105 with your daugher on the bike...u deserve the ticket...you seem to have no common sense...

well the question is...do the cops have the right....any attorney in the world will take this case and get your tickets thrown out the window. The next point is that doing 100+ with anyone on the bike is just plain stupid.
Take risks...live dangerous....but don't take dangerous risks with someone elses life.

well i bet she wasnt wearing full leathers. i bet she was only wearing a helmet because of the way you casually answered his real question. come on fess up, she wasnt wearing anything that would help her survive a crash at 105.

She was wearing a full face helmet and joe rocket kevlar mesh jacket. I was wearing the same.

Are you for real Curling? I have a hard time believing anyone can be this stupid.

I'm pretty sure he was trolling, no one can be as stupid as he and not have roots in the ground, bearing fruit.
