How about you do something important on the internet, maybe read up on current events, look up stocks or look at scat porn.

Well, there is a hope...

A lot of blocking software works on DNS name resolution. It can be easily bypassed by just entering the IP address of the site you want to see. For example, this is EF:

http://209.11.101.247/forum/

thats the thing.....i ain't got shit to do.

don't understand why they didn't lay me off back in nov. when they canned 30 people......kinda wish they would have in a way.

Does it not connect to EF or does it flash up some kind of "forbidden" screen?

it gives me a page not found error...or something like that

could it be our connection just had some kind of DNS issues today?

it was only that site...but then later on it was I_r_o_n T_r_y_b_e too....which is funny cuz i never go there....popped on there once or twice today to see if maybe anyone else posted somethng aboutb having trouble with elite....

so...i don't know what the hell is going on.....

Page not found error probably means it isn't being blocked.

It could be a DNS issue. Did you try pinging the IP address and see if it made it? Do a NSLOOKUP on elitefitness.com (from cmd line) - if it doesn't find it, then you be having DNS issues.

example:

Code:
C:\Documents and Settings\admin1>nslookup elitefitness.com
Server: ipcop
Address: 192.168.2.1

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: elitefitness.com
Address: 209.11.101.247

If you get a good DNS, do a "tracert elitefitness.com" that would point out any problems along the way.

pinging did not work either....

i did the tracert thing....but, had no idea what it was telling me.....a bunch of crap came up....then it eventually got to timing out

A lot of IT departments block anonymizer sites as a matter of policy. I hope for your sake they haven't...

poop.....ah well....this could end up being a good thing i guess......I really need to get a new job. this may provide the proper motivation. i fuck around on elite way too much.

Yeah mang... if they are blocking specific sites they are blocking all known proxy sites such as anonomizer.com.

Otherwise the blocks would be a waste of time.

here's another wrench in the works....

i could still get to support.elitefitness.com

wouldn't that be blocked too?

elitefitness.com was always blocked for me. But I used to get in through boards.elitefitness.com ??? Now I go through expertpc

I doubt they blocked it, sounds like something else.

If traceroute went on for a while hitting different addresses and only started giving you timeout errors after a half-dozen lines or so, that means that some site "upstream" of you is having a connection issue. It just happens to be between your office and EF. (The old story about how "The Internet was designed to route around damage and survive a nuclear war" hasn't held true for a while now... certainly not since the beancounters got in on the action.)

Look at the names it gives you; the first few are machines there in your office, but pretty quickly it should start hitting your ISP, then one or two machines out on the Internet somewhere. Unless you've got a really sucky connection, by ten or twelve "hops" you should be here.

hmmm...it hit a few, then timed out

does that mean they aren't blocking me?
