Weighted Situps

New member
I am doing weighted situps as part of the 5x5 SF. I am now doing them with 20kg and i find it too light, but even with that weight i cant do the technique right simply because i have 2 10kg plates on my chest.

Is there any way i can do it with more weight and still be able to breath, complete the situp?

Thanks

Do you mean let the dumbbell roll on my chest as i do the technique?

I use a dumbell and hold it on my upper chest, it stays there for the entire movement. it's much smaller then a 45lb weight so it allows you to do the full range of motion without any problems. I also do mine on a decline.

no don't let it roll... just hold it in place... kinda cradle it in your hands...

Or alternatively, hold a barbell or curl bar behind your neck (about where you would a back squat). You won't be able to use as much weight, but the difficulty is increased significantly by the longer lever. Plus, it forces a much stricter movement.

I tried hypers like that and found it brutally hard (in a good way) :)

I stack two quarters on my chest, nothing says you can't use more than one of the small plates... helps for me to keep them higher on my chest as well...

i'd be careful doing this, as once your abs begin to tire, you'll just be pulling on the bar, which is not good for the neck...

Yeah, like illuminati said, keep it high on the chest, hold the weight there tight, and strictly do situps, try your best to make sure your heels dont lift off the ground.

i did the Needsize situps yesterday, and am feeling it now...

can't wait to bang 'em again...!
