The best thing I have ever done for myself is to start the Shadow program that is listed as a sticky on here. You will have trouble with the drop in carbs at first, but I have seen changes in my body that I haven't seen in years. Just a suggestion. When I first came here I was really confused and this plan has made it very simple for me.

Thank you very much! I'll look into that plan. My main problem is that I'm so short I can't eat as many calories as most can and maintain a healthy weight. I also have a very very slow metabolism, and it seems like everything I turns into fat and stays there no matter what I do.
 
Sometimes it just really takes LOOKING at the foods you are eating and making a serious and consistent effort to change them - its a LIFESTYLE -- not what's conveniently available at the time - I'm not making a slam - its just a choice -for me- I"ve been training balls to the wall for over 20 yrs but it takes a TIGHT diet and cardio to get results. IF you don't make dramataic changes you won't get results any time fast - and thn you start to think things like you have a screwed up thyroid or "slow metabolism" or whatever- your body can only respond tohow you feed it and what energy demands you ask of it.

Check the Shadow Project - execellent place to start.

But dont' be discouraged -- -it takes a little time to find what works & fits in your life but if you give e.g. the Shadow Project an HONEST 3 weeks of your time you will see results. And FOR YOU , make the effort to have good clean foods in the house - you aren't completely a slave to your family's choices - if you aren't happy w/ yourself then you can't be happy w/ others. SO be good to yourself and make sure that you get what you need to succeed!

Really review the stickies. Especially Daisy Girl's link to the top threads very, very insightful.
