Weight Gainer

Hey guys. I'm currently about 6'0", 170 lbs. I've been training for almost 2 years. My biggest problem is eating enough to put on the weight I need to lift big. Reason is IBS, a stomach disease I've had for about 6 years now. I'm now looking to invest in a weight gainer. Of course I know these powders can never and should never replace food, but there are many days I just cannot eat enough b/c I'm too sick. I figure a serving of such would be better than nothing at all. Just wanted to hear your input on this matter. Also, anyone know of a decent weight gainer for cheap? I've been looking at allthewhey.com, which sells 10 lbs at 30 bucks. Any other suggestions. Thanks.

since you already know powders aren't a replacement for real food, I won't beat you up about it ;). For days where you simply can not eat enough, they are a decent way to get the calories down.

I would not bother buying a specific "weight-gainer" as most are over-priced and simply full of sugar/fat (which is easy to add).

Some of the favorite additions for me are:
16 oz whole milk
2-3 scoops icecream
3-4 tbsp peanut butter
1 cup of oats
3 scoops whey.

Used to drink it all the time, a little thick and hard to chug, but lots of cals and tastes damn good. Before someone else says it, i know icecream isn't that healthy ;).

Are you lactose intollerant? you may have to pick up some lact-aid or something to help you digest all the dairy.

I drink over a gallon+ of nonfat milk a day. Works well for me.. I am thinking about making the switch to a gallon+ of whole milk a day, or at least least drinking some more whole milk; saturated fat helps boost testosterone levels.

PS - I had a dream I was drinking/chugging eight eggs raw last night. I've never done that, but now I am itching to try. Maybe later today.

I'm in the gallon a day crowd too! Sometimes I don't make it, but still drink at least 16-24oz with most meals. I love whole milk. 150 cals per 8oz serving.

yeah my problem is i really can't drink milk (although i drink soy) or eat ice cream. thats y im looking for alternative suggestions.

there is a supplement called "lact-aid" pick some up. It contains the enzyme that you lack to digest milk/dairy. I'm sure there are other brands but my ex-gf used that one all the time.

Originally I just drank nonfat milk because I liked the taste more, but now I'm shooting to just drink whole milk. After drinking more and more of it, I've come to the decision that a gallon of whole milk definately puts some hair on the chest.

I haven't taken up whole milk yet, 2% should suffice unless I can't gain weight naturally but I've only been trying since Friday last week, so I can't really tell if it's working well or not but last time I was at the gym my weight was up 1lb, but I don't know if that was just normal fluctuation.

meh, 2% just has less fat. I just like the taste and calories of whole milk.
