Awhile back I came up with an Idea for a web business. Something I have been looking for online and couldn't find. Then it occured to me that it would have no competition and might be a good web business Idea, what do you think:
What I have planned out would be sort of Matchmaker for hobbies. For example, I love to canoe, camp, hike, white water raft, rock climb, and nobody I know does these things. So where do I go to find these types of people? Not a matchmaker, even friend finder.com is people looking to hook up. I am not looking for females to fuck, just guys or girls that share common interests.
This site would be a membership, month, six months or a year, dunno yet. Would not charge anything outragious like this site does. Perhaps 5 dollars a month tops.
I would offer articles, email zines, have a message board like this one for people to chat, and of course have a categorial search for hobbies including localizing the search. Perhaps even try to negotiate a deal with places like Dicks sporting goods to offer coupons to my members. Further down the road of course.
This site could include any hobby that is best done with other people. Roleplaying, people in the area want to find a football game that is played every sunday evening on normal season months, etc.
Think it would work?
Of course I know posting this will give somebody an Idea, and if they steal it, so what, then I can join thier web site and get what I want. Find people that go camping or go on a canoe trip. Getting it started seems like it would take a bit of investment. Like first 3 months free, sign up a friend get 3 more months free or some crap.
