web page design a good career choice?

does anyone know if this is a very good career choice right now?... i'm not sure what the job market is like for this type of a job, so i thought i'd check here and see if anyone can comment on it.

If you check monster.com you will find that programming in general is in the highest demand.

Web design is good, but without experience you are at the bottom rung on the ladder.

Web design ? hummm I have doubts on it, especially with all those software to make web pages. Things have never been so easy.....

design as in true design skills are always worth something.

but if you mean learning to code HTML - that is literally something you can learn in an hour and master in 3 days or so.

programming is of value, but only if you are going to be good at it - there are people on the board that post very basic programming questions and it is clear that they didn't do the homework or go to class and now they want help on something - they aren't likely going to be so good once they graduate - and thereby won't likely get a job, or at least not get a good one.

so what I'm saying is - if you are asking if web page design is good for the money - it all depends
