waterbugs

in the past few weeks i have found three waterbugs in my house, those giant disgusting cockroaches. i found one in the garage about a month ago, and two in the house about two weeks apart.

i have a clean modern house but gotta say i am worried that this could be an indication of a problem. being a southern californions i have had apartments in my 20s with roach problems, but those were the smaller kind. a fucking nightmare.

my question: are the big ones maybe just isolated experiences where they may have crawled in from outside? it is summer so i am hoping this is the case. i don't care if i have to hire an exterminator and tent the goddamn house. i will not let this become a problem.

Most of the Large Palmetto Bugs don't live inside but move in to get water
or food and head back outside.

Seal your doors/windows/soffit/plumbing exits etc

Treat your yard with an insect granual.

Do you have palm trees ? They love living in those things.

Being a lifelong Floridian, I've seen my share but my house is bug free due to constant diligence and treating the outside monthly.

thanks y that linkl is helpful and puts my mind at ease. gonna take immediate action. those fuckers are fast. i couldnt catch one last night that got away. i will stop at nothing to prevent a roach infestation. good thing to know these waterbugs seems somewhat controllable.

Here they live outside where there's lots of grass/weeds.....I used to get them in the basement, but worked on sealing up the basement + used those large-roach traps which they crawl in & can't get out......Haven't had a problem since....

bran been wondering if i should hire someone. worth the expense to get rid of potential problem. have never seen these things in previous summers , so getting nervous. called prop mgr friend of mine to get advice wheter i should hire professional..

btw bran looking great in your avatar.!

not so little! ugliest creatures on earth.
ive had a few battles with those things
one time i was cleaning the sink and u know that hole at the top of the sink that keeps water from pouring in the floor? i was wiping t he sink and i thought it was hair and wiped it and out came one of those nasty little shits, and scared the crap out of me
also the very first time i saw them, i was like wtf? and i put a cup over it, it was in the floor and made hammy deal with it later

waterbugs common in warmer parts of country. i have been in palm springs and they walk on the sidewalk there and even bigger than ones here. like two inches. you don't even want to step on them they are so huge and disgusting.
