Remmeber the scene where he first goes to military base in order to find the pattern of numbers on the huge screen? Was that also imagined, or was he a real code-breaker for the army, until he started seeing the guy with the hat?

Ok, some people say that he wasnt a code breaker at all. EVERYTHING was in his imagination. THE First time he went into army base was also in his imagination. The things he was decrypting was all in his mind.

Some people say that he WAS a codebreaker for the army, but took it to another level with his paranoia.

I was under the impression that he was a code breaker. I think the only part he thought up was the guy, and everything he got involved with from that point on, but not breaking the codes at first. Remember he asks them who big brother is, and they ignore him, like they don't know what he was talking about.

Yes, but you forgot one thing. The Roommate.

His hallucinations started when he was still a college student. He thought he lived with a room mate, while he actually lived solitary. His imagination started long time ago bro, thats why I'm not sure if the army was real or not

been a while, but I think it was all imagined....

remember in the end when they showed the military facility (it was just an abandonded warehouse); same with his drop off location (just a deserted house with a mailbox full of his stuff).

I haven't saw the movie since it came out, but I remember the roomie being fake since the start. He was out with his 'friend' but nobody else saw him, just like at the army base. He was asking the guys who big brother was, and they sorta just shrugged it off.

I remember the mailbox being some empty dump, but wasn't that when he got 'involved' with the big brother guy? So, wasn't that a different operation than the code breaking?

I would watch it again to find all this out, and to give you my opinion with a fresh outlook, but it was so depressing. I don't think I could watch it again!

Bro, you shouldn't have sympathy for him.

He was a homosexual and an anti-semite. They forgot to mention that in the movie.
