At the beginning of this football season, I took the position that Warren Sapp is a washed-up has-been football player.

I told someone (Nature Boy?) that if he makes it to the Super Bowl, I would STFU about "washed up" comments about Sapp.

Here is my public admission that Sapp is not washed up. Asshole, yes. Washed up, no.

I may not agree with everything that his does, but in between the lines he is a force to be reckoned with. Besides that, he plays football like kids play football....HE HAS FUN!! More professional athletes should try that...and remember that they get paid to "play" a game.

I have heard several people say that Sapp is the "Pinnacle" level of his position.

While I may not agree with all that pinnacle crap, I sure like watching him chase down quarterbacks.

I've said it before,and I'll say it again,Warren is deceptively quick,powerful and athletic for a fat man.He is an explosive player who pours it all out on the field and gives it everything he has.Love him or hate him,he is a great player.

The fact that he's blocking on offense on goal line situations is pretty impressive. We'll see how good he really is if he goes up against Lincoln Kennedy next week though I think Simeon Rice would be lining up against him.
Their secondary isn't as good a s Miami's so they'll really need the line to get pressure on Gannon to enable their defense to make big plays.

He is a great player. Being a dominant defensive tackle is not all about sacking the QB, which is all he used to try and do, by his own admission. This year, with the injury to McFarland, their main run-plugger, Sapp had to fill that role, which he did. He may not be the big sackman, he used to, but he is a more complete DT now. And with a pass rusher like Simeon Rice lining up next to him, his role has changed. He may have a big mouth and act like an idiot more times than not, but so does Terrell Owens. It doesn't mean that they are not great players. In all honesty, goiung into this season, I was questioning Sapp's deisre as well. He certainly dispelled any of that this year...

Remember when ESPN would have the LINEMAN CHALLENGE...dont know if they still do. Sapp won it several times...and usually by a large margain. He can move for a fat man...and like Huck said he leaves it all on the field.

How many sacks did he have? Not as many as the year before, but thats because he changed his game to help the TEAM. They have Rice to rush the QB...and with the injuries they have had on the line he had to concentrate more on stopping the run...to help the TEAM. Besides one of the reasons that Rice gets such easy shots at the QB is because teams still double team that fat bastard. Because if they don't their star QB will be looking up at him from his back.

And yeah he does talk alot, too much at times, but he backs it up. And half the time he is running his mouth is to get into the other teams head..anything to gain an edge. As for him being a fat bastard...he's a defensive lineman...I mean damn. How many six packs (other than the Bud Bowl) do you see on the defensive line. And lazy??! Now that's funny...he runs wide open from the start of the game till the end...and that's what counts.

A D-lineman's success is not measured by how many sacks he gets just as the success of a D-back isn't measured in INTs. Champ Bailey only had 3 INTs for 2 yards but I'm sure most people will agree he is one of the top 10 if not top 5 corners in the league.
