Warren Sapp Hit

Is there a video somewhere on the internet where I can see this. I worked all Sunday so I couldn't catch it. And because it's a little controversal none of the top sports sites have it.

Anybody have it saved or know where to find it?

is this the one where he just slams someone when the ball is clearly on the other side of the field? unnecessary, but a good hit

Yes. I still say it was helmet to helmet, and 100% illegal, but I am in the minority apparently. I know it's Football, but the dude is still in a Tampa hospital, and has a Spinal injury among other things. He's out for the year obviously.

If that were Favre, the League fines Sapp HUGE. I have no doubt in my mind about that.

Sapp knocked the shit out of the guy, but the hit itself was legal.

Excessive force? Questionable.

Sapp wouldn't block a QB like he would a lineman.

Sapp did nothing illegal, the hit was somewhat of a blindside though. But he did follow the rules of where to lay the strike down.It was a furious hit...He was accelerating full speed when he hit the guy,and Warren is deceptively quick and powerful for a fat man. That lineman may as well have been ran over by a truck.

PUT IT ON ESPN FOR A FEW MINUTES. YOU WILL SEE IT. I SAW THE GAME BUT THEY HAVE SHOWN IT ABOUT 1000 TIMES SINCE.

well warren sapp wouldnt take a shot like that for no reason, the lineman must have been talking some mad shit, but he found out that warren sapp aint no joke!!!!!!!!!

YOU MUST BE JOKING....SAPP LIVES FOR MOMENTS LIKE THAT. THE DUDE WASNT EVEN ON SAPP FOR THE GAME. HE JUST HAPPENED TO BE IN THE WRONG PLACE AT THE WRONG TIME.

BTW....THE WRONG PLACE WAS ABOUT 20 YARDS AWAY FROM THE PLAY. THE HIT WAS TOTALLY UNECCESSARY (THOUGH LEGAL).

hey you know what its that political bullshit that is coming up these days, they are taking the pure fundamental of violence out of football and degrading it with fines and incidents like this, in the game and on the field in the legal boundaries of the game, you better be ready cause the name of the game is hits like what was seen in the game, so if a legal player lets his guard down then theyre gonna get layed out, a hits a hit, when the reciever misses the ball and gets leveled, and the quarterback who already got leveled 30 yards down the field is laying on his ass and dont see the play, they dont talk shit, speak of fines the game is savage and if your not ready to play against savages then dont let your guard down in a legal field, the hit was legal and it is what it is!!!!

I agree with that...Football is a gladiator sport,it's about seeing ferocious hits, power duels and blinding speed and skills. When I played high school ball,I took,as well as gave hits exactly like the one Sapp dished out all the time.We did'nt cry about it,we just picked(or dragged)ourselves up off the field and said,"Nice shot"and mended our bones and bruises.Leave the pansy shit for some of the non-contact sports, football is a tough guy sport.

I posted this already on the other Sapp thread. On a sidenote the OL coach from Green Bay said he will tell his men to take Sapp out the next time they play. That should make for an interesting game.

ya know.. i changed my position... FAIR GAME!!! ray lewis did the same thing but his guy was closer to the ball... GREAT BLOCK is all i heard for 2 weeks...

my problem with sapp was on a different pick return.. he had favre at the 5 and a guy in the endzone... so, warren being the DT he is takes out brett, cuz that's what you do on a pick return...

NOPE!!! that fat fuck went for the guy in the endzone because of his friendship with brett favre.... and brett made the tackle!!! you CANNOT play that game and let friendship factor in.. he should have fucking destroyed favre, simple as that...

and warren did use excessive force, he left his feet and led with his helmet... it just looks like he missed.

It just looked like Sapp was the bowling ball and The Packers Player was the pin...truly an amazing shot and yes I think Sapp respects Favre too much..most players do. He is a man just like the other 21 men on the field and should be treated as such. I'm sure he would wan tit that way.

Did you notice how Sapp barely even stumbled after putting that guy down? That was probably the most amazing part.

JC

YES, it was fair game, and it is a tough guy sport, BUT, it was a cheap shot. Anyone can blindside someone else and lay them out, the reason being that they are totally defenseless. Yeah, Sapp's a big strong dude, but if the offensive lineman knew Sapp was coming I gaurantee that he would not have been hurt and the hit would not have been so bad. Another thing is that Sapp can be man enough to lay a cheap shot on someone and blindsiding them, but cannot hit a QB, favre, to help his player get into the endzone. Sapp said in an interview that he hit the lineman to protect his teammate, yet he just lets Favre go right after his guy and make the tackle, hes a pussy. I guess you guys agree that a sneaking someone and laying the hardest punch you can on someone when there head is turned is fair also? Give me a break, hes a bitch.

Truly amazing? Of course he didnt move after the hit, it was like hitting a blow up doll, the guy was totally defenseless and didnt see it coming. Id like to see Sapp make that same amazing hit on Ray lewis when Ray is ready. Sapp could have hit Ray lewis the same way if he did it when Lewis wasnt expecting it, are you telling me that Sapp hits harder than Lewis, dont think so.

Sapp saw a chance to take a cheap shot on someone and he took it. I don't think he even realized who he was hitting, he just wanted to hit someone in a Packer uniform. He showed his true lack of class with that hit and continues to show it with his behavior since.

I couldnt agree more!

Ok the last three posters are forgetting one thing...you can break that one thing down into parts. The one main thing is that the other guy was NOT defenseless.

The contact occurred ON A FOOTBALL FIELD. BETWEEN THE WHISTLES. The player hit was a PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL PLAYER. He was in FULL UNIFORM including, not coincindentally, LOTS OF PADDING.

By saying it was a cheap shot you are actually denigrating the guy who got hit, not Warren Sapp. What the hell was the guy doing on a football field TOTALLY DEFENSELESS? You would have to be pretty fucking stupid to step on an NFL football field and be totally defenseless. ESPECIALLY DURING a play. All Warren Sapp did was teach this guy and everyone who watched a very important lesson: NEVER BE TOTALLY DEFENSELESS ON A FOOTBALL FIELD.

I never said he was defenseless. I said it was a cheap shot because it was nowhere near the play. If that would have been a qb he hit, a flag would have been thrown. Yeah, you always know where you're at on the field, but when you are out of the play you do let up.

All Warren Sapp did was make himself look like an asshole and showed everyone that you can lay out a player that "isnt looking" but not lay out a quarterback that is, not even block him a little bit, instead let him make the tackle on an easy TD.

Sapp showed that he cant lay someone out and make such an impact unless the hit is on someone that is unaware that the hit is coming. Yes Crane, you are correct, he was on a football field and should have been aware and prepared that the hit was coming.

There are unwritten rules in all pro games.......in Baseball if a pitcher drills a batter who is hot, then the pitcher(or another teamate gets drilled when they come to bat......its not in the rule book and its legal to some extent..

In every sport, you don't run up the score(except college football, where your rated higher on how bad you blow out a team).....So for some of you that say what sapp did was OK, why isn't it ok to run up a score..both being legal? unwritten rules.......

you don't make hits like that on players that are that far away from the ball when hes not looking.....All these guys are one hit away from a career ending hit----99% of the players know this and respect it---what Sapp did was stupid and if I were any player out there, I would try to end his career on every play from now until he admitts what he did was fucking stupid or until his career is done....The guy is a dick in every sense of the word......

The way I see it is like this.
Was the hit legal? Yes
Was it to forceful? No this is football not girls badminton
Was it necessary? He did have chance at making the play (albeit a small one) so it was a good block.

I really didn’t see a problem with the hit. What I was as a problem was sap dancing around and showing off while they were loading this guy on a stretcher.

that is what made it even more disgusting

Whoever made the point about if he did that to Favre he would get in trouble is absolutely right. He would even be suspended for something like that. It was "legal" techinically, but a very cheap shot that really has no place in the game. Don't break it down more than what it is, a cheap attempt to lay someone out. Yeah it happens, but that doesn't mean it's ok.

I know I sound like Warren Sapp's biggest defender but......

Another thing for you guys who take issue with what you think is a vulgar display of glee at another player's traumatic injury is that....while no one can read his mind it is safe to assume Warren was more excited about the fact that his team just got an interception and ran it back a good amount of the field than the fact that he laid someone out. Warren just like anyone else knows it's easy to lay someone out that isn't looking.....but getting a turnover is a laudable feat.

JC

He likely was celebrating his teams inteception. But it's still disgusting to be celebrating while someones being taken away on a strecher. Even more so, when it was your fault.
Sapp may be a great player, but he really showed his immaturity after the play, and with his episode after the game. I have no respect for him.

Jesus, some of you guys here sound like bunch of pussies. I am willing to bet that most of you on this thread haven't played football before. (No, I am not talking about flag or touch football, idiots)

Wake up, this is Pro football. They know what they are getting into when they decided to play Pro Football. Hell, I once had a Linebacker who took a cheap shot at me by head-ramming me when the play was 40 yards away in High School. (I'll never forget that bastard) Injuries are inevitable in Football, simple as that. If you think Today's professional football is rough and cruel, I suggest fast-rewinding to 30 or 40 years ago. You'll see many unnecessary blocks or tackles by players.

I'm sorry, but maturity and common sense do not fucking apply to Football.

shit slickpapa... hugh douglas barely blocked miller and was fined (playoff game)... and hugh didnt do a god damn thing till miller started to move up field toward the play... IMAGINE what would happen if that were favre getting hit... wow, i'm guessing someone would be suspended and fined 50k... and his career would be ended the next time the teams played.

MACHINE--- i'm glad someone else agrees that favre should have been hammered on his ass on that pick return.. he fucking made the tackle too!!! that's what pisses me off about it.

well some keep saying why didnt he lay out farve like that and stuff, but maybe he didnt have or wasnt in a perfect position to lay a dude out like he was when this play occurred, its not often a defensive player gets the chance to throw a perfect positoned blind sided block and kill the guy without tackling him!

Well said.

I hope they come after Sapp on the return leg.

He ended the guys career(probably).

Cheap shot IMO.

So, for you guys defending Sapp and placing the blame on the guy he hit, let me ask you this...

...let's say you're in a bar or nightclub and get into an argument or shoving match with some other dude. The situation gets defused before any real blows are thrown, and you walk away. Two minutes later, you're talking to some girl, when all of a sudden this dude gets you by surprise and sucker-punches you in the back of the head, knocking you down. Now, are you going to be pissed off at him and say that he's a bitch, or are you going to say, "Well, I was still in the same building with this guy, so I guess it's my fault for letting my guard down."

FONZ....CLIFTON'S CAREER ISNT ENDED, JUST HIS SEASON. ALL THE DOCTORS WHO EXAMINED HIM SAY THE INJURIES ARE NOT CAREER ENDING.

I'M NOT DEFENDING SAPP CUZ I THINK WHAT HE DID WAS SHITTY AND I'M SURE WHEN THEY MEET IN THE PLAYOFFS, HE'LL GET CUT MANY TIMES FROM GB. HE DIDNT NEED TO HIT THE GUY. CLIFTON WAS ATLEAST 20 YARDS AWAY FROMT THE PLAY. HOWEVER, THE HIT WAS LEGAL.

He is an impact player, however I disagree about him possibly being thee biggest difference maker on the defensive side of the ball in the NFL. All I ever hear out of his mouth is a bunch of ebonics and all I ever see is a bunch of gold teeth. I'm not expecting him to say anything brighter than "put a jersey on".
I'm sure he has never had, or never will much regard to the consequence of his actions, it is over his head.

First of all, KHMER ROGUE, thank you. A voice of reason amidst the hubbub.

Fonz: this isn't soccer. There is no return leg. This is their last meeting this season. They could meet in the playoffs.

You have not been paying attention. If you were a professional street fighter at an organized event, in the fighting area, while a fight was going on, and there was no stoppage going on at the time, then would it still be wrong? Basically you would be a dumbass for turning your back to your opponent and talking to some chick.

There is a difference between chilling at a bar and participating in play at a professional football game.

dude, you gotta dumb it down a bit for anyone who is going to compare a blindside hit with a sucker punch in a bar...

THINK OF PRO WRESTLING--- a battle royal... it's like one guy is sitting in the corner and 20 others are going at it.. you can count on it that someone is going to throw someone into you and smash you up on the turn buckle...

(see, i bet he understands this).
