• The good people of New Orleans need help.
• Looting for food and necessities is rational.
• Looting DVD players and 50 pairs of tennis shoes is not rational.
• The National Guard needs to take control of the situation as the local authorities are completely overwhelmed.
• The people shooting at Rescue Helicopters and Guardsmen patrolling the streets should be dealt with lethally.

No, 2 + 2 does not = 5. Perception and opinion are not fact or reality. All people have flaws, and have made some poor choices in life. However denying that these flaws or poor choices exist, or labeling the person pointing them out as racist, smacks of hypocrisy and insecurity.

It is no better than saying that Joseph Stalin was a great man for doing most of the work in defeating Nazi Germany. Then calling a person a racist for pointing out that he was responsible for the deaths of around 15 million during farm collectivization, and another 600,000 through torture between 1936 and 1939.

What pissed so many people off is that this thread was not created to spark discussion about the what's going on.
