I bought some Monster Cables - Component cables for my dvd player. I plugged the 3 colors accordingly into the dvd player and the same with the TV and when I turn on the tv to the proper source it just says No Signal. Is this a problem with the TV, DVD player, or cables? is there an ez way to figure this out?

Seems right. Try and plugging in the other cables that came with the DVD player. S-video or whatever came with it. That will tell you if the cables you purchased are bad or maybe the input location is not working.

Are you sure you are selecting the proper input? 'Video 1'.... Video2' ...Video3' etc...? Are you using a receiver? If so, you need more cables. I assume you're going directly to the TV from the DVD player.

TV "IN" and coming from the DVD player on video "OUT"?

Double check those and make sure your video selection is right. Sounds like a connection problem that is easily fixed.

let us know what happens.

EDIT*** oops, I type slow. already answered...

I went through EVERY source on the tv and all said "No Signal". I am not running through any receiver so it's simple match up colors. The DVD player came with the standard composite cables and those work fine on the composite input but the component (I have VGA - Component and Component, don't know the differene) doesn't work at all

I think you are a weak girlie man and didn't plug a cord in all the way.

they were hard to plug in straight out of the package but I triple checked them. I will check again tonight.. I hope that's not the reason :worried:

LOL, I only guessed that, cause it's happened to me. But don't tell anyone. New plugs can be a little tight sometimes, they're only in halfway, but feel like they're in all the way.
So is this the set of cords with like 4 different colors? I was thinking bout getting them but they're pretty spendy. Post up if there is any difference between those and the regular cables, when you get it to work.

Try the same cables on another TV or game console or something. At least you know the Tv works with the other cables you tried.

The DVD or TV should have come with some cables... Try those just to see if they work, then you'll know if its the Monster cable you purchased. Do you have an hdmi jack? Maybe you could have went with that.

What the hell is a cord with 4 different colors?

and Are you sure you're using component cable? red-green-blue?

yes im using component cables (blue, green, red). the ones that came w/ the dvd player are composite (yellow, white, red).. I don't have another tv that uses component, this is my good tv, all my others ones are shitty. I am going to take it over to my parents and try the dvd player and cables at their house.

it makes a big difference for only 20 bucks. I got my dad some for xmas and it makes the picture super clear. one thing I read though was component you need to spend the extra money on them b/c they are shielded and you know monster will shielf them properly but HDMI cables are not shielded and transfer binary so you can buy the cheap ass ones from radio shack. Just what I read, don't quote me on that. I get off work in an hour and i'll let you know the results. Hopefully they just aren't plugged in all the way cuz I don't want to have to test all this shit out
