I am heading off on a 6-day vacation next Monday, and have been thinking about my diet too. I think that a week on vacation won't be too damaging, as long as there are a few common-sense decisions made at lunch and dinner. Order meat and low-starch veggies, and skip the rice/potato side dishes. You don't have to worry about taking in some decadent carbs at breakfast, since vacations usually mean a lot of walking around during the day and afternoon. In order to resist temptation, tell the waitress that you don't want certain components of your meal to even arrive on your plate. Keep the beer/wine intake to just one per day with dinner, and try to get into a gym twice during your vacation if possible (I plan on getting up really early, so as not to piss of the GF). I managed to spend five days in New Orleans (kick-ass food capital of the world), and only gained one pound despite eating everything in site and drinking like a fish. All that touristy walking around really does help...I think that I would have actually reduced my bodyfat had I used the common sense approach I outlined above. This trip, I am almost sure that I'll drop a pound of fat....and you could too....just don't forget to pack your thermogenics!
