Why do vacations have to end?
I got back from our cruise to the Virgin Islands Saturday. The Islands were simply beautiful! I have never seen the ocean so clear and so blue. The people there were very nice and polite and the sights were breathtaking. We went to St. John, St. Thomas, St. Maarten and a private island in the Bahamas
called Half Moon Cay. The snokeling was great too!
On the ship, I have never seen so much food in one place. I got on the boat eating and left the boat eating. Needless to say, the diet was shot to shit in no time. I ate until I was tired and slept until I was hungry.....I'm scared to get on the scales because I know it is bad news.
I was able to buy my wife a lot of jewelery at unheard of prices. Didn't really buy anything for myself but I did buy a lot of stuff for my daughters. My daughters loved the cruise because of all the activities they were able to do. My oldest daughter found a boyfriend but ditched him halfway through the trip (typical girl). The boy was devasted but quickly got over it and they decided to be friends.
We hired a taxi driver when we got to St. Maarten and he drove us around all day. This guy was very nice and told us all about the island and it's history. He was a very unassuming gentleman. We found out later in the day that this guy owned a rental car agency, a heavy equipment rental agency, and he also owned 17 acres of beachfront property and was 80% complete building a resort on that property. He told us that in 1978, somebody offered him $5 million dollars for his property and he turned it down. I found it intriguing that he owned all of this and he was driving a taxi. I guess you never know about people.
Anyway, it's Monday morning now and I am still wondering where did all of the time go. Damn, I hate it when vacations end so fast. I would recommend a cruise to anyone who hasn't been on one. I think next year, we will fly down there and spend a whole week there or maybe try Aruba, I heard that was a great place for a vacation.
