Using a needle multiple times JUST for drawing...

What is everyones thought on this? Never done it before, I always grab a new one but I was wondering if it's safe to use the same needle multiple times for drawing purposes?

I suppose if you can keep it sterile there isn't a problem. Question is can you keep it clean? And is it really worth it considering you can't tell if you've been successful in keeping it clean?

Yeah, that aws my concern.... I wasn't sure how easy that would be, I suppose it's not at all worth the risk...

I use the same one multiple times. Before each use I drop the pin in alcohol, and then pull it out and allow it to dry. Once dry I reuse. I have done this for over 10years without a problem... I will usually reuse the draw only needle, 3-4 times and then discard.

I re-use the same drawing pin for about 2 weeks, maybe 3. You can tell when its time to get a new one because your injects start getting sore.

Not a good idea...pins are so cheap it's not worth the risk

i would not reuse a needle. you could be putting contaminates into your vial. honestly, how often does any inject in a completely sterile environment. i would bet on never.

If what you say is true then technically the contents of your vials themselves are not sterile which would mean you get infections every time. Not true. I tell you what though, once the pin is in the air it is of course getting germs on it, the thing is if you ONLY put that pin in your bottles for drawing then store it in a cool dark place the bacteria will take at least 2 weeks to get to the point you get infections. Trust me, i typically re-use drawing pins for weeks, so do all my friends, no problems yet.:D

i used the same 21gauge for every withdrawl and then switched it to a 25 gauge didnt have any infections or abcesses, then i may have been lucky

I always use a different pin everytime. As cheap as they are at the co-op it's not worth the risk not too. my.02

i guess im different, i use the same 18guage to draw with for at least 10 times before using a new one, but i always make sure the injection needle is never uncapped until it gets ready to break skin.

I use one needle to draw out the AS from two different vials, and then i change the needle and inject.

I use two needles everytime i inject

i'll pay the extra $0.15 to feel a little safer.

okay, so you are taking a pin that has been put in your body, picked up lots of bacteria, had that fester for a few days, and then use it to draw!?! I hope I misunderstood your post.

it is $8 for 100 18g drawing pins...
